Arte has no excuses if he swings and misses on this year's crop of talent.
It would be like striking out with a beach ball that was underhanded to you from 5 feet away.

Arte gets two big thumbs up from me after keeping Trout an Angel for life with that contract he gave him, but if he doesn't go all in this offseason to put a legit contender on the field with the amount of FA superstars available, he's never going to do it. There is literally endless options to fill out a top tier staff this offseason and really good catchers, but he won't have to spend an extra dime on anyone else around the diamond outside of the battery with the depth we have at middle/corner infield and two budding stars in the outfield in Marsh and Adell. 

I'll tell you this right now, if the Angels offseason consists of an EIGHT year deal for Gerrit Cole, plus a pitcher that couldn't crack a playoff roster, and another glove first catcher....then I'll be on the FIRE EPPLER TRAIN. 
I'm expecting a heck of a lot more from this offseason.  Meaning either Cole and another top starter, or three non-Cole top starters. 

Well, I was excited about Cole....until he wore a Boras Corp cap during interviews right after the series ended.    That move shows a real lack of judgement and character.    The wound was still fresh for Astros fans and he took a pee in it.    I literally hate the Astros for tanking intentionally for many years to cheat the system...and then acting like they are genius baseball strategists because they can win after hogging the highest draft picks for all those years.    However, that was a b.s. move by Cole and I don't believe talented players who lack common sense and character tend to do well in the long run.   Given the high $$$ it's going to take to get him....It's a hard pass in my opinion.

Pretty much, yeah. 
I'll never call Arte Moreno "cheap" considering how much he paid Trout and how much he spends annually on the team. But I'll be damned if we end up with another off-season of reclamation projects and flyers. 
I fully believe Arte is committed to winning, and especially winning with Trout. But if he doesn't do what is necessary this off-season then it is clear he just doesn't care about winning and I pray he sells the team to someone who does.
Again, I don't think that will be the case, but it's fuckin time. Take a luxury tax hit for a year or two if you have to, he can certainly afford it. Just do what needs to be done.

something that never seems to be said around here is that every year people start talking about how arte is going to expand the budget, "spend for the right player", and yet it never happens. i'm sure we'll bring in some pitching, but i'm the type to go with history. i predict the angels budget will end up extremely similar to where it always is.

I really don't care about Ausmus but firing a manager after one season to me just seems like a sign of dysfunction.  

Btw it's not my money and I don't give a flying monkey F*ck how much it costs to sign Cole. Arte needs to take his balls out and put them gently on the table in front of Boras and tell him to write how much he wants on his sack with a sharpie. And then he gets out a blank check and throws it at him.
If Arte gets cheap this winter he can go directly to the poop dimension.

Nah, I'm ready for an off-season of "4 years/100 million is the most I would go for Cole. Anything more and you have to move on".

A quick shout out to fellow member PattyD22 for saving an Ohtani bobblehead and shipping it out to me.  Forever grateful for this gesture!  Not being able to attend Angel games in Anaheim hurt, but it's people like PattyD22 who take the pain away with a simple bobblehead.

They aren't right. This is baseball. Not the NBA.
Uneducated, smelly, unbathed casual baseball fans who get their news from ESPN and InfoWars will always say this shit. That's why I stay far away from Yahoo sports or ESPN. 
The fact is, like I said baseball is not the NBA, where one star player changes the entire fate of the team's season. Hell even the NFL is like this with QB's. Sweaty Plebs from the ESPN forums or Twitter won't ever realize that baseball is entirely different. There are 25 players on a roster. One player will ultimately have very little impact.
Let us count all the worthless players in MLB history who have won several WS Rings and then imply that they are better than Trout because we have brain issues. You know who never played in a World Series? Ernie Banks. You know who never won a World Series? Griffey and Bonds and Gwynn  and Cobb and Ted Williams. What unbelievable pieces of shit those guys are.
It's a tired narrative that butthurt fans who don't have Trout on their team hold onto because they can't legitimately criticize him without sounding like Corky took a bunch of pills. 
Honestly, who cares? People who wear deodorant and actually know shit about baseball are aware it's a dumb, pointless argument. Let the uneducated neckbeards think what they want. Trout is the best. Period.

Say what you want about his lineups, matchups, whatever. But he was the one constant on this team for 20 years. He was an absolute rock with the Adenhart tragedy. Kind of wish he was around today as we go through this.
