I voted for the third party candidate Gary Johnson.  I didn't do it so that I could simply say I voted I did it because what he believed or supported lined up most with my views.  I know like any other politician he wouldn't accomplish what he said he would should he get elected but I felt a hell of a lot better voting for him than Obama or Romney.

Congrats to Seattle on their utter domination.  Record setting Denver offense didn't mean squat when it mattered most and at best they'll be a trivia question some day.  Not even sure who won the MVP after turning the game off early in the 4th quarter but the entire Seattle defense earned it to that point.  Sorry to the casual fans for a shit game to end the season.

I'm sure they knew it was likely but I actually like that mentality of saying here it is and take it or leave it and decide soon.  If it works out you grab a pitcher early and if not you move on to other free agents.  Also I'm with Scott and glad he didn't end up here.

No reason to watch because I can already guess what it was -  lies, threats or digs at the other side about working together and some democrats popping up and clapping annoyingly like they just got selected to participate from the audience on the price is right.  I couldn't care less what any politicians say any more I want to see results.  Obama has done what I thought was impossible 6 years ago, a worse job than Bush.  I'm tired of his schtick and I hope the 2014 elections open some eyes but I doubt it happens.

No.  In 2009/10 in downtown HB on sundays we used to see maybe 3-5 people with niners gear on and some of them were guys we knew who were originally from Nor Cal.  Starting in 2011 more and more suddenly showed up and they eventually took over one of the bigger bars and it's now a niners bar on game day.  I'm guessing many of them were formerly Charger fans because when more people started showing up in niner gear there were fewer people wearing chargers gear.  It reminds me of USC during the Leinart and Bush years when you'd see car and balcony flags pop up belonging to supposed die hard fans.

As far as the seahawks not seling to CA residents I'm sure they'll still have no problem selling the game out and I don't have an issue with it.

Minimum wage jobs weren't meant to support a family or be a career.  I'd bet most of the people striking have no desire to become a shift manager or work their way up.  They want more money for doing the same amount of work with no desire to put forth the effort to improve their lot in life.

As I said in the other thread I'm not excited about the trade but I'm not mad either.  PB likely wasn't going to get us a ML starter so we would have those rotation spots to fill regardless of whether or not this trade happened.  Now if you're contending that we should have kept PB and traded Trumbo that I can at least understand.  All that said fans overvalue their own players more often than not.  PB is worth what another team was willing trade for him not what fans think he should bring in and I'd like to think the FO took the best possible deal.  I like PB and think if he had been able to stay in the line up the last few years he would be patrolling the OF with Trout for years to come but that wasn't the case.  If he stays healthy I think he's a great add for St. Louis but all I care about at this point is how Freese and Salas do for the Angels.  The offseason is far from over and the Angels have holes to fill so I'm not going to get all worked up when the start of the season is over 4 months away.

That's what they did in 2013.  After 2012 people were talking about him bouncing back and either being an every day player or increasing his trade value.  Calhoun's success made their decision after 2013 easier.

He's been in the bigs since 2010 and the last 2 years he's missed considerable time.  Where the Angels supposed to trot him out there in 2014 hoping he stays healthy, produces and his value increases while keeping a player they supposedly like in Calhoun on the bench?

That's what I thought but I think my first response made it look like I thought you were getting Williams.  Point wise between the RB/WR's discussed it was pretty even and you're getting a legit QB worth starting who could only improve as the season goes on and he gets stronger coming off an injury.  Tate has cracked ribs but he was on the field last week and given how much the Texans are paying Foster and the fact Tate is a FA after this season I don't think it's a bad move at all.  Again the Texans have a small window to make up ground and if they don't and Foster is still banged up it makes sense for them to rest him and ride Tate into the ground.

I don't really think it's surprising.  A lot of government ideas (i.e. spending money) follow a formula:

    1. Promise something to a large group of people that of course costs money the government doesn't have
    2. Raise taxes, fees, expenses, etc and project that it will be paid for from revenues that haven't come in
    3. Part 2 doesn't go as planned for various reasons - in the case of taxes the wealhy use legal means to park money offshore, shelter income, etc.  The biggest issue here being the fact that the government is usually quite a bit off in regards to what something actually costs
    4. The burden ends up falling on the middle class who by and large are just barely getting by

Not only are they getting paid but the shutdown ultimately costs money in the end and doesn't save any.  They'll come to some kind of agreement before the government 'runs out of money' October 17th but ultimately it means little or nothing if they don't start to address entitlement programs.

Complete non-story since the season hasn't ended.  Try during the offseason and if it's a no go they still have 4 years of club control over him.
