  1. Awesome. Always liked his story and he seemed like a great guy.
  2. If Hollywood/TMZ/E are going to stuff anyone down the general public's throat to the point I have to see links and/or headlines to articles anytime I go to yahoo I'll gladly take her over the likes of the Kartrashian's. I don't make it a point to see her movies just because she's in them but at least she's got some talent, is attractive and seems relatively down to earth by Hollywood standards.
  3. Broncos name Manning as starter for the playoffs. Not really surprising as he's obviously the smarter QB of the two but his lack of mobility and arm strength could have the offense sputtering unless the run game is effective. Brock kept plays alive with his feet that Manning would just take a sack on but Brock also showed he didn't know when to just get rid of the ball. Peyton looked decent against SD but all of the AFC teams playing on wildcard weekend are much better at getting to the QB.
  4. Congrats to both as they both definitely deserve it and were a pleasure to watch. Griffey Jr. had one of the nicest swings ever and had it not been for injury (missed almost 600 games the last 10 years of his career) he might have ended up with the all time HR record.
  5. My work brings in lunch 3 days a week which is obviously a huge perk because it saves money but you don't have a say in what they bring in and if you're eating healthy sometimes you'd have to pass. Generally out of the remaining 2 days of the week lately I've been buying lunch one day and bringing it the other.
  6. Transient's are like nuclear power plants - most people are fine with them as long as they aren't in their city bringing down property values and posing a safety risk. To be honest I agree because as much as I fee bad for someone living on the streets I don't want to worry about a transient who is mentally ill posing a risk to my fiancee or any kids I have in the future. As mentioned some are where they are because they don't want help and there's not much you can do about that.
  7. Denver with 279 yards of offense in the 1st half yet they only have 7 points to show for it because of 4 TO's. The D held SD to under 100 yards and 2 FG's so they did their job but I don't expect them to keep it up all game while SD gets the ball to start the 2nd half. Week 17 and none of the top teams in the AFC look like the clear cut favorite to make it to the SB. Meanwhile in the NFC Seattle is smoking Arizona and Carolina has the 1 seed wrapped up. Kind of crazy as I don't recall any time in recent years where there weren't a few favorites to make it to the SB or that had set themselves apart from everybody else. Obviously anything can happen in the playoffs and the favorites don't always win but seems like there's a lot more parity this year with teams having holes, dealing with injuries and so on.
  8. Let's see if Denver can hold onto the 1 seed for longer than 3 hours today.
  9. They did the same thing with Carolina/Tampa who are now playing the same time Arizona plays in the afternoon since the 1 seed is up for grabs.
  10. Since I guessed what this was about just from the thread title do I win a prize?
  11. Here's another RS article with Lars Ulrich talking about how down to earth Lemmy and the rest of Motorhead were: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/metallicas-lars-ulrich-on-lemmy-his-spirit-will-always-live-in-us-20151229?page=3 His talent speaks for itself but even better than that by all accounts was his personality and the fact he was never an ahole because of what he accomplished. I saw the Lemmy documentary some years back and he still seemed like the same guy who would sit down with a fan in a dive bar and have a Jack'n'coke because it's who he was. RIP.
  12. The biggest difference between a mortgage and student loan is that the federal government, i.e. taxpayers guarantee student loans and there's nothing the government or taxpayers can get back and sell to recoup losses. If someone defaults on a mortgage at least a house goes back to the lender. Anyways I came across either one of the democrat debates or a snippet of one and Bernie was talking. I was glad to see the fear mongering coming out of Trump was basically being equaled by the other side as it just re-affirmed my belief that both sides are pretty much the same. I'm sure Bernie is a smart guy but he sounded like the type of guy who yells at yk for getting a few lawn clippings on his driveway. Edit - Geoff beat me to it.
  13. RIP. Even though I was a kid in the early 90's and will remember him for Desert Storm I can't help but think of Chris Farley on SNL
  14. I think that's easier to say when it's not as big of problem for you or if you had a relatively full head of hair for a while into adulthood. I was fine through college then over the course of a few years my hair started thinning a lot in certain spots. I used to spike my hair and saw a picture of myself and noticed that even when doing that it was still very evident that I was balding. I started shaving with the 0 setting in my mid 20's and have been doing that for about 8 years now. Once you do it and get over it whether it's vanity or just coming to grips with no longer having hair you get used to it pretty quick. Now I'm kind of a bald elitist because if I see someone that really needs to shave but doesn't, i.e a horrible comb over or bald all over with a patch of hair somewhere on the top of their head I realize how bad they look like that and how much better off they'd be just to shave.
  15. Again, all pandering to your emotions and the aging boomers talking about a cure when there currently is no cure. It's all hopeful research which may or may not turn into a cure. I can easily google and find similar articles talking about funding needed for AIDS, cancer and any other number of diseases which they're working on a cure for. I'm not against money going towards a worthy cause like this but it's a puff piece with her buying votes. Politicking at it's finest.
  16. This is like her saying her plan is to cure AIDS because there is currently no cure for Alzheimer's. There are treatments that can minimize the effects and catching it early is always the best outcome but this is nothing more than a politician speaking out of their ass to buy votes during election time. I'd respect her on this issue more if she said it was something that needed to be addressed instead of talking about a cure that doesn't exist.
  17. Yeah I don't care if people don't sing the national anthem here but don't complain about it or be disrespectful. If I went to a country that had a strong muslim presence I wouldn't be complaining about them praying 5 times a day. This is the equivalent to shitting all over Chuck's proverbial couch after he allowed you in his house.
  18. I wouldn't count out Seattle given their playoff experience, their defense and how much their passing game has stepped it up when they needed it most. They also could have Lynch back for the playoffs but of course how effective he would be is the big question mark. Right now I just don't see GB matching up with Carolina/Arizona/Seattle but there's still 2 games left and they or any other playoff team could get hot at the right time. Beckham should be suspended the rest of the season. Launching himself helmet first into Norma was beyond dirty.
  19. The last 2 games opposing teams have made adjustments after halftime and the Broncos have been outscored 36-0 in the 2nd half. Raiders/Steelers deserve credit but a lot of it is also on Kubiak and his staff who are getting out coached. Nothing about the Broncos right now says anything more than one and done in the playoffs supposing they don't lose the next two games and miss the playoffs all together.
  20. The country was in better shape when deficit spending wasn't a way of life. I'm not in favor of any tax increases until our elected officials can reign in spending.
  21. Same. I've been an Angels fan as long as I've been into sports and that's not going to change.
  22. I never said he was only interested in the financial aspect of it rather pointed out that there is a financial aspect to it which some people seem to ignore when getting upset about the fact the Angels may not give out a 100M+ contact this offseason. Arte's a baseball fan and wanted to own a team before he purchased the Angels when he tried to buy the Diamondbacks while previously owning a minor league team. His goal was to own a major league team which he now does and as an investment it's been quite good to him. Just because he may not throw a 100M+ contact out this offseason doesn't mean he isn't spending money or that he doesn't want to win. We aren't talking about Loria who over the years made money because of revenue sharing while gutting his team this is an owner who has been willing to spend.
  23. Arte bought the Angels for 180M, I don't believe he has much (maybe any) of the purchase financed and according to Forbes the franchise is now worth 1.3B. Nothing lasts forever but even when things slow down he's got a long long way to go before he's at a loss. Across at least 3 of the 4 major US sports (not up on NHL finances) the leagues and most teams are doing quite well, Angels included. The NBA who not too long ago was losing millions is now looking at billions in TV deal revenues and the next CBA will reflect this additional revenue. The Angels also are projected currently to have a top 5 payroll in MLB in 2016 so it's not like he's been pinching pennies. Only time will tell but like anyone Arte probably has a point where he's not going to spend more on something and right now he appears to be at or close to that point with the Angels as far as the 2016 season goes.
