  2. His throws are terrible. On the drive where he threw his second INT he should have been picked off both of the plays before. I don't see how Denver does damage in the playoffs assuming they make it with him at QB.
  3. I'm okay with it as long as they park the refugees right on the White House lawn so the politicians can get a good feel for what the repercussions of some of their decisions are. In all seriousness though I agree. Let them in and we're going to see some of the same issues Europe is seeing. It's always great when our elected officials can take care of another countries citizens when we can't even take care of our own homeless, veterans, mentally ill and the list goes on.
  4. I can't rate it because I have to assume or hope it's the first of multiple moves. Otherwise we got the best defensive SS in the game for a guy who was good in his own right (not as good) while trading our best prospects in the process. Before this move I didn't see anyone on here talking or worrying about Aybar or the SS position after 2016 and this move does nothing to help the offense or 3B/LF which seemed to be the biggest need.
  5. I don't think Bowden realizes it's 2015. I still think they gave up too much in Aybar, their top two prospects and cash for a younger albeit better defensive version of Aybar. Newcomb may never develop into what scouts think he can but as our biggest trade chip it seems like you move him if it fills a need like 3B, LF or some other bat. This move alone looks terrible but the off season is far from over.
  6. I got busy at work and come back to this news and an 11 page thread. I saw this AM people said there were talks Simmons was on the move possibly here or to an NL West team. Only time will tell as results are what matters and maybe Newcomb never develops into what people think he can but on paper the Angels got taken behind the woodshed on this deal. SS defense is huge but it's a lot to give up.

  8. I remember reading a biography or autobiography of his when I was in middle school. If the guy wouldn't have become a politician I would have gone on thinking he was a genius who was making the world a better place.
  9. Thur. Nov. 5 Cleveland (+11.0) Sun. Nov. 8 Green Bay (-2.5) NY Jets (pick) Miami (+3.0) Pittsburgh (-4.5) Minnesota (-2.5) New Orleans (-8.0) New England (-14.0) Atlanta (-7.0) NY Giants (-2.5) Denver (-4.5) Philadelphia (-2.5) Mon. Nov. 9 San Diego (-4.0)
  10. Sure as hell can't make things any worse as far as pass catching production out of the TE position for Denver. Green is primarily a blocking TE while any time they go to Daniels I swear he's already falling down before the ball gets to him. Having a pass catching TE like Davis should hopefully only open things up a bit for them on offense in both the run and short passing game. Worst case it doesn't work out and they're no worse off this year for it.
  11. Setting aside the unregulated and independent contractor vs. employee aspect of it uber, lyft and so on are the evolution of what cab companies could and should have become but they didn't because they weren't forced to since they basically monopolized the service they provided. I equate cab companies or rather the industry as a whole to that of an inefficient government agency that got too big, output or service declines and they didn't keep up with the times. Getting a cab in a big city is one thing but trying to get one in OC has been a joke at times in my experience. Now you see in some cities the cab companies/unions/whoever are getting politicians involved (money) trying to ban these companies that have a much better product. It sucks for the person who saved up enough to buy a medallion and is now a part of a struggling service but that's how business and capitalism work. If someone else does it better and cheaper then you've got to adapt or you're done for.
  12. Can't believe they not only won but did so convincingly against GB.
  13. The Saints/Giants game was nuts with 14 TD's before a FG was made which was an NFL record, 3rd most combined points in NFL history and it ends after a fumbled punt return put NO in FG territory with enough time for the 50 yarder and nothing else. Balt/SD ended on a FG while Atlanta scored with less than 30 seconds left to tie only to lose it in OT. Every year Matt Ryan looks like he's going to turn a corner then he starts turning the ball over and reminds you he's more Tony Romo than an elite QB. A lot of injuries today with some big names going down and at one point it seemed like every game had someone who got carted off - L. Bell, L. Donnell, K. Robinson and S. Smith to name a few.
  14. It costs money to police the world and prop up a quality of life that people here are accustomed to. Future generations and the well being of the country be damned.
  15. As much as I'd dislike seeing him in a Dodger uniform seeing someone like him try to reign in professional athletes especially one like like Puig would be entertaining at the very least. It would suck to have to root against him but I wouldn't fault him at all since he apparently wants to be a pro coach some day.
  16. I stopped going to the ESPN website months ago after they changed the layout. I don't even watch sports center these days because I can avoid all of the tmz style reporting there by reading articles or headlines elsewhere. If it wasn't for the occasional NFL live episode, NFL pre-game show Sunday morning or live sporting events I'd be able to avoid ESPN completely.

  18. It seems like some of you are naming movies you like and not terrible movies because some of these were fairly well received as far as audience ratings go. Super Troopers is one of those and it's a stoner cult classic from the early 2000's at least among people I know. I almost wish they weren't coming out with Super Troopers 2 because I don't see them living up to expectations. Ready to Rumble - I remember watching this when it came out and bought it cheap on DVD. Never big into wrestling but the toilet humor and over the top plot are perfect for the type of movie it is. Club Dread - seconded. Wasn't Super Troopers funny but I enjoyed it and one of my friends and I watch it every now and then as it has great quotable lines. Paxton as Coconut Pete was awesome. Gladiator - not the Russel Crowe movie but the boxing movie from 1992
  19. He may have said some stupid things once or twice but no one's perfect and he was a good guy, great teammate and even better leader in the clubhouse. He was well worth the FA contract the Angels gave him and there's no denying he gave it 110% every day which is more than some players can say. Awesome career and I'm glad he got to end it with the team he started with.
  20. A buddy of mine who used to work for a local well known company had to deal with this. As red said even if the perpetrators are caught or whatever server/website/etc. that you get the ransomware from is shut down about the only way to deal with it is to pay up. That was what happened in his case and because they didn't have everything backed up he had to sit there for hours basically clicking okay to continue unlocking thousands of files.
  21. There's no denying the NFL is a passing league now but that makes backs like Gurley even more valuable because they're few and far between. What he's doing and the promise he shows isn't something the league has seen since AP was drafted. Cooper is a stud and fun to watch but so far through 6 games he's had 3 huge games against average defenses while he's been shut down by good defenses. Since Gurley has been starting he's lit up all 3 defenses he's played and seems to only be getting better or rather becoming more comfortable in the NFL. Small sample size for both and I'm not trying to take anything away from Cooper but I'll take a once in a decade RB over a guy who might be an all pro WR a few times in his career. That said it's a fun conversation and will be interesting to see how things pan out 5-10 years from now especially in regards to Gurley and whether or not he stays healthy because that's one area a WR generally has an advantage.
  22. It's like any situation where you deal with someone in a position of power. You remember the one crappy time and not the ninety nine that went fine. Most TSA agents I've dealt with were nice and I know they have to deal with a lot of aholes so I try to take that into account but I've come across a few who fit the stereotypical "I was an asshole in high school and since I can't do something that requires a higher skill or intellect I'm going to find a job where I can continue to be an asshole and people have to put up with me."
