  1. http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/inside-baseball-with-jon-heyman/yankee-intrigue-trade-gap-arod/ Story heard about the Albert Pujols deal: The Angels were at $160 million, when Arte Moreno went to $200 million on a phone call with agent Dan Lozano. And when Lozano told him he couldn’t have an answer for him at this time because he hadn’t spoken to Pujols, Moreno abruptly bumped it to $240 million. Then Lozano gave him his answer: Yes Guess that's one way to get someone to sign.
  2. I live about 7 miles from the stadium in Allen. It's amazing but they had to close it down for awhile because the concrete was screwed up and cracks started appearing. I haven't seen the inside because i don't give two shits about high school sports.
  3. I can't believe when I saw this my first reaction was that its at least an improvement. But they better not take any of our ML roster or top 15 prospects, even though those guys are like in the 150-250 ML ranked range.
  4. They need pop in LF desperately. Everything else gets a little less bad if you have a few high quality players. But remember when Beltre really wanted to sign here and they were desperate for a 3B but they refused to spend. That bit them in the ass huge. They still haven't learned the lesson that you can't win with a bunch of glaring holes in your starters.
  5. This brings up a huge problem for me. Why do old men have to wear uniforms? You're not a player and who cares if you're on the playing field. The umps don't wear skin tight clothes meant for in shape young men (and the large and in charge Bartolo Colon types).
  6. So yesterday we get the hint from the club about being $4m under the CBT and that next year won't be any better even without making any moves. Today we're getting hit with CBA talk about the CBT moving down or something else changing. Arte bemoaning 7 year deals just killing clubs as well. But does anyone really buy that MLB has any chance of doing anything to lower the CBT or implement a hard cap? They have no negotiating power, the players have all the power. That's evidenced by the fact they are getting 7-10 year deals with player opt outs only. What the heck does Arte think is going to happen in two years? NBA style max contracts and length?
  7. Shoot I've been a fan since the late 70's. Yeah I'm annoyed right now and no I won't be throwing ANY money at the team in any way but I still love this team. I also wish we didn't have a crap ton of bad contract dollars as part of the cap numbers, but w/e. Go angels lol.
  8. What's really screwed up is Arte has created this situation. They've gone extremely low profile on international signings, they fired the guy who drafted extremely well, and have traded away all the prospects. So for all Arte has done owning this team they are left with a bottom three farm system, a dead contract in Hamilton that Arte wanted and then forced him to go, and an aging Pujols contract that is already an albatross. I was upset they signed Hamilton in the first place but I was even more upset that they traded him for nothing. At the very least they could have done a Hamilton for Choo deal and the money would've been the same but nope. It's just bad decisions after bad decisions. The dude is still riding the credit for lowering beer prices. But otherwise he's been a terrible owner.
  9. Yeah pitched for the Indians for like 12 or 13 years
  10. 3 years Dbacks pitching coach (whats the deal with us and the Dbacks?) and then a year in cleveland as a special assistant in the FO
