  1. He's hit over 40 home runs twice so it's far from a guarantee but there's no denying his power. He had a bounce back year this year but after a breakout 2013 season he hit a whopping .196 in 2014 and I'd be weary of giving him a long term contract. Some guys figure it out later and he looks to be one of them but given the Angels needs in the field I don't think he's a good fit. If the Angels didn't have Pujols it would make more sense but we're talking about a guy who is mostly used as at 1B and DH and will probably get a decent sized contract.
  2. I remember seeing episode 1 in theaters because I was 17 and along with most other people in the theater my buddy and I were amped up to see the reboot/prequel. Thankfully this trailer makes me completely forget about episodes 1-3 and the effects alone make it look like a cool stand alone flick I'd want to see if I had never seen a Star Wars film but admittedly I love a good scifi flick. I'll see it a few weeks after the hoopla dies down and I can see it without waiting in a massive line.
  3. I think once Ben is back you can add Pitt to that list too. As a Denver fan even with their defense I don't expect them to do anything in the playoffs unless they make a change at QB or Peyton starts visiting Arod or Bartolo's doctor. Even if SD goes on a run they're not getting the 1 or 2 seed in the AFC and at 4 games back with 10 to play it will be hard but not impossible to take the division especially with Denver playing GB, Indy, Pitt, NE and Cincy along with 2 games against SD remaining. Regardless nothing I've seen out of SD says they're built to do damage in the playoffs but I'm sure in true Charger fashion they'd hang around in a playoff game only to shit it away at the end while Rivers has that confused/pouty/pissed off look on his face.
  4. I know it's not going to happen but they should really start Osweiler. I'm not questioning Peyton's ability to read a defense and make adjustments but almost every one of his throws is wobbly as hell most likely due to losing feeling in his fingers. Even his short throws are shit more often than not (threw behind Hillman on one of his INT's today) and the long TD to Sanders is something we would have seen a few times earlier in the season if he could throw a pass over 15 yards with any accuracy as Sanders has beaten opposing defenders on similar plays earlier in the year. Osweiler is set to be a FA next year and the team needs to know what they have in him. The O-line is playing better than they were but they're going to find it hard to run against good defenses because opposing teams no longer respect Manning as a passer nor should they. After the bye they play GB and then Indy which as much as it sucks to say will probably be the smack in the face they need to move on from Manning. I hope I'm wrong but he's shown nothing as a passer this year that makes me believe he's going to be anything close to what he was prior to about week 11 last year.

  6. Someone should have charged out of the Phillies dugout when Joe Carter was taking his victory lap after hitting a game and series winner off Williams! In all seriousness huge moments like that are awesome seeing guys go nuts and enjoy it.
  7. CHANGE...nothing about our Middle East policies. YES WE CAN...keep troops there. HOPE...we don't waste too many more lives because we aren't going anywhere.
  8. The devil always gets his due. In all seriousness it's unfortunate that he wasn't able to deal with his demons. Hopefully the ground opens up and swallows Kanye and the Kartrashians.
  9. I think you guys need to read between the lines. Can't hold her hour derves plate is code for can't give Biff Wellington of the Manhattan Wellington's a handy and without that there's no hope for her to move up in life.
  10. Rivers is still a good QB but his favorite and most consistent weapon is a 35 year old TE who just came off a PED suspension. K. Allen looks like a beast some weeks (like when he tears up Denver) but is MIA others which has been the case this year. M. Gordon has a lower YPC than Woodhead, more fumbles and fewer TD's while Woodhead is a much better pass catcher. Gordon still has a lot to prove and time to do it but the verdict is still out as to whether or not he's another in the long line of Wisconsin system RB's. Regardless right now he isn't a game changer or being used like a 3 down back and frankly I don't blame SD with how effective Woodhead is. SD needs to focus on their lines and see about adding another receiving weapon because who knows how much longer Gates plays. Manning is done in Denver, Charles will be 30 coming back from a 2nd major knee injury and the Raiders are still young and the AFC West in the next few years is up for grabs but with Rivers towards the back end of his career SD needs to make a move.
  11. He used to be more athletic than he got credit for but that was because he was considered to be so unathletic and was ridiculed for it. The difference now as BB mentioned is how stiff he looks when he goes down. It's like when a possum plays dead and just goes stiff while hitting the ground.
  12. No run game and Peyton's throws look like he's done. He now has more INT's than TD's on the season and they're winning in spite of him because of the defense. Playing like this they would get destroyed by a team like NE because no matter how good your defense is you need your offense to eat up clock and put points on the board because sooner or later the defense will tire. I'll take 5-0 but they could just as easily be 0-5 if not for the defense.
  13. I've always changed the channel when Stephen A. Smith comes on and think he's a joke but he's doing what he does best - saying things that get people riled up, getting a response out of them and getting viewers. He epitomizes what ESPN and the entertainment industry thrive on these days which is saying or doing controversial things that they then talk about like people gathered around the water cooler gossiping. Actual reporting whether it's sports or the news in general is slowly going the way of the dinosaur.
  14. Saw a screening in IMAX 3D about a month ago. I hadn't seen a 3D movie in years and the last time I saw one it gave me a headache but I'm about 95% sure it was a movie that wasn't shot with a 3D camera that they later edited/changed to cash in on the 3D craze. I'm not really a big pay to go to the movies guy anymore but between the story, acting and the visuals (walking across ladders over a chasm, the top of Everest, etc.) it was a good flick.
  15. I mentioned this before in other threads over the years but in alcohol school (10 years ago) there was an older guy who was on I believe his 7th DUI. He hadn't gotten one in over 15 years and said back in the day the cop would make you leave your car and just drive you home. Red - I almost mentioned uber in my previous post. I'd be curious to see in a year or two what impact uber and the like have on DUI's. Even when you're hammered you can open the app and click 'set pick up location.' The ease of use and not having to wait in a taxi line or for a cab that comes 45 minutes late have got to cut down on drunk driving.
  16. The evidence about stricter DUI laws reducing the number of deaths is debatable. Statistics have shown that over 50% of people who get one DUI will get another one and over 50% of people who get that first DUI have no problem driving on a suspended license. The exact numbers are of course debatable but the point is I think awareness has as much to do with it as the laws themselves. Kind of like Angels N Skins alluded to on page 1 poor behavior, stupidity or flat out negligence isn't fixed by laws.

  18. Same and that was maybe 15 years ago and I used the pass twice at post. I haven't been in probably 13 years and the only reason I went then is because a friend who worked there got us in for free. Aside from having kids I never really understood the allure of going to DIsneyland but I know some people love it. Greed or not they don't seem to have any problem filling the park up so I don't blame them for raising prices.
  19. No we wouldn't. It's a 162 game season and early in the year I'm sure people were happy we could end it against a team no one expected to be leading the division especially after some of the injuries they had to their staff. If you end up saying Houston makes the post season because they're 14-3 in inter league games you can say the Angels lost it because they're 8-12 in inter league. Still 3 games left with a shot at the playoffs and meaningful games in October. Hoping for the best.

  21. This is something that's been moving up on my list of pet peeves. We have an elevator in our office building and generally people trying to enter before you get off is because they don't anticipate anyone being in there. I know I've done it but obviously I back up and let the people out first. In the last few weeks we had new tenants move in and some of them won't let you out before getting on. The first time it happened I had a Dave Chapelle keeping it real moment.
