Detmers has the talent to do that consistently; he just needs to develop consistency. I am not a baseball-coaching expert, but he just needs to believe in himself, trust his stuff, and realize he has the talent to do this often.

He was decent yesterday without having good command of his fastball, so that's a good sign. When he can command that heater, he's literally got no-hit stuff.

  2. At least we will likely see the end of the "Tungsten Arm" BS... Sadly, it's gonna be replaced by all the "He's actually having fun playing baseball now" BS instead. While I certainly appreciate how great he is, I won't root for him because I hate the team he's on now, simple as that. I always appreciated Derek Jeter too, but I never rooted for him for the same exact reason. I suspect I'll be lightning quick with the remote to change the channel when his highlights come on for awhile. If the Halos can get back to winning someday, that will make this all a lot easier for everyone here to not care about Shohei leaving anymore.

Well that was my first cassette tape.

Didn’t mention record. I grew up on some good rock and roll, R&B and disco. Had a pretty good collection of different genres.

Then once I hit my teens I shifted to 80s new wave/alternative music and punk music… but always listened to the good classics along the way.

Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Doors, Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Metallica, Kiss, Prince, Steely Dan, The Cult, The Smiths and Issac Hayes were some of my most listened to artists growing up.

We may be long lost brothers dude. All those were my bands too. But my first cassette was KISS-ALIVE II. Bought at Gemco...thx for the loan Grandma!

    1. Pujols
    2. Vernon Wells
    3. two way tie between Luis Sojo/Junior Felix. Just a horrible trade for us as usual. Then that fat-faced fk Sojo goes to SEA and hits the "3-hopper heard around the world" in the 1-game playoff disaster after doing absolutely nothing in Anaheim.

But holy sh*t can these guys give us something to smile about right now?

As I said in another thread, it IS just a game. And spoiler alert, none of us are part of it. It's a bunch of strangers playing and us paying for it, and win or lose, we win or gain nothing.

There's a lot more important things out there to get your endorphins up or down.

This is a cheap shot, but everyone needs to think about the good times with Lou, and Brandon.

And then think about the bad times they had without us....

And I know thats a shitty thing to say, but it should hopefully make everyone nod their head and say "yeah, good point." Plenty of worse things out there than seeing strangers suck at baseball.

Sorry, I have my own thing going on at home right now, so I'm probably saying this out of frustration. And it's not at all aimed at anyone reading this. Not trying to preach and say "who cares about baseball, Im having an issue in my life!"

More just to remind everyone to still enjoy the rest of their night, and the weekend, regardless of what our favorite team does. Don't let it affect your real life is what I'm saying.

That said, it's been a shit week, Angels. Can you please try and win a freaking game please?

    Everyone be safe out there.

    TORS

I’m sorry you’re going through it man. Thank you for saying this though. As for me, the typical “numbing” started about 3-4 games into the L7. I’m just gonna try and enjoy watching 17 for the last 1.5 months in our uni. I’ll be back all fired up again next Valentines Day tho, knowing my stupid brain.

Reid Detmers has been trash this season. 4 IP, 7 ER, 9 hits, 3 HR

Even Jered Weaver is like, WTF

The team really really needed Reid to show a little bulldog tonight. He was not that. That’s just who they are. Shrinking when they need to stand tall. I fucking HATE being a fan of this team tonight. Even more than last night. I gotta figure out a way to unplug. They ruin my days…and I’m 54 with a whole bunch of other stuff to worry about. For some reason it makes me despise the fucking Dodgers even more

I'm by no means a Nevin fan, but I don't think swapping him out for Montgomery or Gil or whoever will make any difference at all.  To me, it's a little different this year compared to the Maddon situation last year.  There are obviously going to be major player personnel changes this upcoming off-season, so might make more sense to just bring in a totally new staff alongside those other moves.

I am a Nevin fan, but I think Perry might actually do Phil a solid (for his mental health) by letting Benji take over for the rest of this annual disaster. I suspect that all the players will wish Phil well, say that it’s not on him (it’s not.) and hope he gets another chance with a decent org next time. Even by Angel standards, this last sequence is pretty impressive “Angeling”. Drop that drubbing on Colorado then this?? Everyone remember that night??? I was forwarding my daughter all the links. “We’re good this year honey, for real!” Shit like that. I’m so stupid for even entertaining that.  I knew it in short order when they lost the very next morning to lose that series. So did everyone here who’s been a longtime fan. I thought that was one of the biggest games of the season right there. “They HAVE to win that fucking series!!” The SP collapse lately, the ongoing RISP stuff, Ward, Rengifo, Renfroe, Walsh, Trout (before IL) all having down seasons simultaneously..aside from a couple questionable lineups and bullpen moves, I cannot see how this is on Phil. At all.

well, after his managerial disaster class with the Angels, he has no need to worry about anyone taking away his time away from the golf course

Yeah that whole thing puzzles the hell outta me. Being back “home” with a gigantic contract to boot, I thought that Joe was gonna find another gear in his managing skills but he went the other way sadly. Seemed like he was too smart to rest on his laurels and resume as a skipper…disappointing as that was, I’m really happy that it led to Phil getting the gig. I see a lot of comparisons to Scioscia when he got the job. No BS, tough guy, huge baseball IQ, decent cred as a player in the big leagues. Also, his connection to SoCal and as an Angel (briefly) makes me think he was a really great choice after the Ill-fated Mohawk situation. Another thing was that I was still living in Reno when he was the skipper of the AAA team there. They needed to sweep like a 5-game series from hated rival Sacramento to make the PCL playoffs and they fucking did it. I thought right then that Phil would get a shot in the bigs. I’m happy it’s in Anaheim
