i know im gonna get railed by the failos but thats one of those them problems, as a fan of this team for almost 40 years now im very happy for the season we had. 
 
We were written off at the beginning of the year, even more after a poor start, even moreso when the Tigers and As made key trades and ours were dismissed, even more again when we had some injuries... and yet the team pulled it together and had one of the best regular seasons in team history overall and set a very strong foundation and balance for the foreseeable future. 
 
Yes, the DS was painful, the first 2 games were great baseball, we just came up short.  Whether some wish to admit it or not the post season is a crapshoot, its a matter of getting hot at the right time, and everything clicked for KC, props to them, good luck in the CS.  Im pretty sure he As for example would trade places in a new york minute.. for that matter so would NY, but i digress.

We have some issues to address in the off season as there always are regardless of outcome, well see as the off season goes and im sure they will be discussed ad nauseam here as its been for the last few years.

Roster just had best year in team history and ran into a hot team that needed late inning heroics to beat us... i expect the roster will be much the same next year and we will be a little better with full season from some of the break out guys.
 
Aside from that ask me more after cooler heads prevails cause right now all anyway wants to hear is the guillotine falling

we ran into a hotter team at a bad time... not better, hotter, 1 series doesn't throw away what the team did over 162.

yeah i mean the guys only had 2 outstanding outing in his last three.. and only given up 4ER once in the last 5... but im sure its an autoloss.

I've never bashed stats, only those who hold them as gospel above and in exclusion to everything else... stats have a more than valid place in any analysis.. but something  cannot and never will be explainable by stats.  

even with 5 aces, they still gotta score some runs... losing their one true presence in that lineup will affect that.
arguably they had 5 great starters before making any trades... what they have done is weaken the offense.
run differential will be affected in a negative way i think. 
instead of winning 3-2 it will all be 1-0, lol  but there will be a lot less room for error on those starters without the offensive threat behind it

Call me crazy,,, but i dont think this is as huge as some do and may even be to our benefit.

very much an "all in" move, whether out of desperation or opportunity is debatable, but if it doesn't work out well see i guess but we all know their are no guarantees

regarding moneyball... isnt admitting that it doesn't work in the playoffs admitting that it basically doesn't work at all?  i mean, isnt that the goal, getting to the post season?

Beane has done great things, but i almost thing his success has hurt the game as much as helped it in many ways... its become a religious of sorts, strat-o-matic for the modern ages... for something that at the end of the day even its founder admits has flaws.   Its like Jesus coming out and saying his father was some guy in the Valey and we were all confused.
 
He has managed to stay relevant without payroll, and that is an achievement, no question, but recent seasons have absolutely exposed its flaws and now they themselves admitted it... i think its time to stop coming up with 87 new stats a year and start watching some games again..

whats clear is that hes had an off year, but hes also shown he still has power so i think maybe we might not make these kinds of assumptions quite yet.
