But winning means everything to them. They chose to get rid of the player despite the fact he could help them win because their rotation is not deep at all and has question marks everywhere. That’s how bad of an impression he left on the organization.

Exactly, he embarrassed them... but in the end, it doesnt matter.  Im not trying to convince anyone of anything, think what you will, but there is more than one way to read the situation.  WE believe which one we believe based on our view of it.

The Dodgers are the best-run organization in baseball (it makes me want to vomit saying that). They're not known for making bad baseball decisions.

It's obvious there's more to the story here. If it was just about an "apology" keeping them from employing a top-tier SP rather than paying for some other team to employ him, that is stupid. But because it's the Dodgers it's pretty clear they determined he's going to continue being a basket case and the team would be worse off with him than without him.

Or, it could be as simple as he embarrassed them and the money doesn't mean anything to them.
We believe what we want to believe in the end.

I'm sure you know better than the Los Angeles Dodgers.

i never said that, but the simply matter is he embarrassed them, he was never coming back no matter what the findings.
But, in the end it does not matter.  What i think he may or may not have done, doesnt matter... legally, hes innocent.

  4. For me this is simple, yes, i would.
He was not even charged for whatever freakish shit went down.  In my book and per due process that means hes innocent.  Its a virtual lock there are guys as freaky or worse in the league.

Would i pay 22M for him, no, but i dont have to either... for 720K, absolutely i take that chance

In his last two seasons pitched he would have been #1 on our staff by miles.  I may not like the man, but the player, yeah, ill take that.

Now i dont think Perry will mind you, he talks about makeup and all that too much to appreciate his attitudes and such, but i would rather a GM talk about winning over nice guys.

You want another quality SP guys.. there you go.  You only want quality starting pitchers that are also quality human beings, that dont have any issues or concerns, good luck with that.

So yeah, i would, absolutely, this team needs to win.

Also you accused me of gross simplification and then you post this?

Yes, i did, Was that not your point?  that we had too much tied up in three guys?  2 of which performed to their appropriate levels?
They were not the problem,, yet you brought it up so... yeah

It isn’t luck we are relying on. We will always rely on health when you pay $105 million on three players. The ceiling raised with these acquisitions as it relates to wins. But when I think of raising the ceiling instead of the floor it’s signing fewer higher end talent versus more overall talent spread across needs.

Well thats moot, we are where we are in that regard and i might remind you that two of those three guys played to their level last year, Rendon is the only one who did not.  Would having Urshela have made the team much better last year?

Our ceiling is fine. It was an over simplification, I agree. Last year major league depth was the problem.  Why was it the problem?  Health.  In years past starting pitching was a problem.  This last year it wasn’t. So we took bad players and replaced them with good players. Our floor needed raising.

But whats the point if the ceiling doesnt raise with it?
Were still projected to miss the playoffs.
    That likely means Ohtani walks.
Dont get me wrong i love the depth moves, but once again the job is unfinished and were relying on luck to be anything more than a 500 team.

Yes, those reasons are depth.  Lack of depth has been the problem.

With respect this seems a gross over simplification.
Depth guys raise the floor, not the ceiling.
Depth guys keep you from losing 100, but wont help you win that many.
Even if we had more depth in recent years, great, we hit zips goals but are still a 500ish team.

I think for a team in SD's position, a guy like Adell would be intriguing. He's a lotto ticket.

I mentioned the names i did only because the lost utility and need an OF till Tatis comes back, and a change of scenery might help him get back on track.  As is he starts in AAA as far as i can tell for us so.
Again wasnt suggesting a 3 for 1 or anything, just names they might be interested in.

Adell, Rengifo, and more is a steep price for 2 years of Kim. There are at least 5-7 teams out there that think they can fix Adell and/or are fascinated by his tools. For all the poo pooing, he has absolutely elite Exit velo number and sprint speed. That's extremely rare to find. I personally believe he needs a change of scenery. But his value is not to the point of being a throw in to sweeten the pot to acquire a guy that is a 3-4 WAR player.

I wasnt suggesting that he was, just that he would fit a need.  And i dont think id like the 3 for 1 thing... just tossing out names they might have interest in.
If we make a deal with them id like to try to get Campusano out of there to pair with OHoppe long term.

The previous 3 years, payroll has hovered around 180m.  Granted there were a couple of trades or it would have been a bit higher but for the sake of argument, let's call it that.

It sure has been nice to see what a GM can do with an extra 26m (and maybe more) in his pocket.

It's almost exactly Drury+Urshela+Estevez.  I would not like this team as much at all right now if we stopped at Renfroe and Anderson.  Or if they'd had reallocated the 25m spent on Renfroe and Anderson to other players.

I tried to avoid the next comment, but I can't help myself.  Imagine how much different if a situation this franchise would have been in had they been able to spend an additional 10-15% over the last 7 years.

Maybe it's just a coincidence that Arte opens the coffers in his final year as owner.  But I doubt any of us really think that.

He opened the coffers to increase sale value, nothing more.   Hes get more if the team is competitive.   I hate to be that guy but yeah, thats where i am with him.

  12. Trade for Kim, bullpen, maybe SP if you lose one in the trade.
Normally i wouldnt like trading a SP for a position guy but that hole must be filled.
Pads lost their utility guys in Drury/Profar and a lot of back end SP in FA and will need something in the OF till Tatis gets back so maybe something involving Rengifo/Adell... plus obviously.   Its a reach, but it might work, probably wishful thinking im sure.

  13. Most people are going to clutch their pearls here and say hell no hes a pervert etc... but does any of that really matter?
Lets not forget, no charges were brought and he was not convicted of anything, by definition that means hes innocent.   Our opinion of him as a person means nothing to that.  Its a virtual lock that there are many sexual defiant in the league and other types of people that have had drug issues, domestic issues etc...
Baurs suspension was in my opinion a gross overstep by the league, guys that were charged or convicted got far less, even for the same type of offense.
Wining and losing, thats all that does, and he would certainly help in that regard.
I dont think Perry or Arte will kick that tire, it isnt their style, but someone will you can bank on that.
