  1. Can we stop these kinds of posts... seriously.. the Dodgers had another year better than any we have had in recent history if not our entiire history and there isnt a fan of this team or a player on it that wouldnt have traded seasons...
Yeah, they are out early, at least they got there, at least they played meaningful games for 2 months longer than we did.
    These posts are just silly.
Hate em, thats fine, but they wont this round, again

  2. This is part of the problem i had at the deadline... the only path to success is to go after the top FA this off season, the problem with that is all the top guys have massive risks.
As people have said Snell has never been consistent with how many innings pitched and such, so even if hes the best available is that a good thing?
And thats before we get to guy having career years in a contract year.
The only path really open to us is so fraught with risk its almost not worht even doing.

  3. There is only one person who can answer this, Arte, and he never answers anything.
I see two options that are polar opposites, and neither is following the plan that has been in place which has failed, but hats all speculation till Arte decides who he wants to be moving forward as an owner, or if he wants to be at all.

Part of me still thinks he will sell but it was delayed as no new owner wanted to be the guy that lost Ohtnai and/or traded Trout.. so Arte might be the bad guy that gets the golden parachute and thew new owner the savior, but perhaps thats wishful thinking. .

Losing Trout and Ohtani within the same off season window would be disastrous for the image of the franchise. Which affects income as well as the standings.

When I was at the game on Friday it was a very big crowd. Sure, the jersey giveaway was a factor. But I spoke to a number of fans and listened to various conversations. Most were/are loyal, disappointed at the losing and injuries. But still engaged in the actual game play. Groaning at the fielding, on their feet for O'hoppe's homer. It's still a summer pastime. Everyone wants a winning team and hope for the future. And sad but resigned to probably losing Ohtani.

But losing Trout too is the only dynamic I see shaking the foundation of fandom. Even past his prime he still was on a solid power trajectory. And he's young enough to improve on some of his other numbers. Not MVP level but above average. Especially if fully healthy and rested. Regardless, he deserves to call his own shots. He's earned that.

More than it already is from a PR standpoint?
Maybe it needs to get shaken... it isnt just about one guy, its about winning, and were not doing that.  If Arte isnt going to do what it takes then whats the point of locking Trout into insignificance in baseball history?  Hes given his all to this club, maybe we need to do him a solid.
Whatever the issues are this club needs a reset worse than any ive ever seen in 50 years watching this game.  Were a literal laughing stock even with Trout and Ohtani, how could it get worse without them?

IT would be nice if Trout came out and renewed his commitment to the Angels.   Trout Leaving it open ended is causing all the media fodder. Silence =consent.

He has already said there will be conversations, what did you think they would be about?
Its literally the first time i can recall that he didnt do exactly as you said, thats telling.
No one wants to believe or even consider that the club might open next year without Ohtani or Trout, but right now i would say thats maybe 50/50 in terms of chances.

  6. Weve already hit it for me.

So many mistakes, mismanagement issues, seemingly running on a laptop instead of actual baseball knowledge, where does it even end?  Ive been a fan since the late 70s, and ive never been lower on this team or the game as a whole than i am now.

I would rather go back to the little market Autry days than continue this pathetic disgrace of the last few years.

Seeing Trout and Ohtani play, in loss after loss, does absolutely nothing for me.

There are a solid handful of good stories left, Atl and a few more, but half the league is openly tanking and the other half is playing moneyball.

The business of baseball has ruined the game of baseball, and our owner is a pure businessman.

Although I understand that some form of automated strike zone is coming, I just want to make sure you guys understand that umpires today are actually the best they’ve ever been.

It seems like they are worse because before we didn’t have the technology to evaluate them at all.

But go on YouTube and watch a game from the 20th century sometime.

This is so true... its hardly a new thing.

  8. One one hand, yeah, you love to see it... someone that actually gives a damn.
On the other, its a really really poor look for the franchise that he has to do that.
Im not going to play the they are professionals thing... it goes without saying, but i also recall a scene towards the end of the old "North Dallas Forty" movie where a player went off saying it still needs to be a game over a business... and quite frankly i think thats where a lot of these guys are.
The joy of the game just looks... gone.  Trout was a different guy in the WBC than he was when he got back for example, and i think losing, falling short, whatever you want to call it has taken a toll on these guys.
Blame whatever, injuries, ... it doesnt matter really the outcome is the same.
I dont know if they are disheartened, tired, given up checked out or just beaten down by this seasons failures and maybe more than just the season for many of them.
Something needs to change... something MUST change

Is it really about replacing his production or improving the overall production of the team?  We can get 75% of Ohtani by signing Belinger and Giolito.  Then you need to have less than dog shit from the catching position, less than shit from 1st base, less than dog shit from middle relief and 5-6th starters, then you need to improve health, if that is a thing.  Without internal improvements it really doesn’t matter.

For once we are dead on the same page.
Replacing Ohtani without addressing other issues is an utter waste of time and a zero sum equation.
I might look other than Belinger but conceptually, yeah.

Has anyone heard anything of late? Why don't the Angels give at least semi-regular updates? I mean, these are supposedly our starters.

Rendon is what it is but the fact weve heard nothing on Stassi is.. odd.
