I sure did ruffle some feathers here lol. You guys keep believing in Arte Moreno, Mike Scioscia, and Mike Butcher...it's gotten us pretty far the last 4 years lol

Sorry, but I just can't be positive. You can't go 3 straight historically bad offseasons (Wells, Albert, Hamilton), then just all of a sudden turn things around. Arte isn't smart enough to have a good offseason. We're done for as long as Arte is owner. Bottom feeders. Astros will finish ahead of them in 2 years. Feel bad for Trout, has to suffer through this. At least for him he can go to the Yankees, Phillies, or Dodgers in 4 years and get out from underneath this mess Arte has created. Next 8 years with Albert Pujols will be a failure. I can't wait to watch our 40 year old 30 million dollar pinch hitter that can't hit or run. That will be fun.

If Santana gets 5/100, then 4/60 is not out of the question for Jason Vargas.
The Angels are absolute morons for not offering that guy a qualifying offer and collecting their draft pick.

Looks like the Angels should of given Vargas a QO after all.

No, it's still an albatross. The argument that it might not be assumes that you get the expected production for the first few years of the contract, which obv hasn't happened with Albert.

Not caring about the draft picks is what has plunged this team into high payroll/low performance results.
The Angels need to step away from the mortgage the future practices since they have already blown several drafts in a row. Ulbaldo is nottgat player that a team with a weak minor leagues should be giving up a midfle pick in the first round. He just doesn't have the stable resume.
The Angels need to give Vargas a qualifying offer and quit fing around with worrying if he accepts. If he does you have at least a one year rental at the league going price. You may be able to get a lower overall number with a three year deal or if he bolts you have a draft pick instead of giving him away for free.
F no for dealing away too much talent for Price and having 2 years of top arb money or even more if theytry a contract extension. Giving up Sappington will bite the Angels ass as much as Corbin or Skaggs. Price will bolt to the Yankees and we will be out two players still under club control and a young arm that is probably going to be MLB ready in two seasons.
    Stop the madness.

LOL at not making him a qualifying offer. This organization must hate first round picks. Inept

LOL at Trumbo being "protection for Stanton". First of all protection is a myth, and Trumbo's .294 OBP wouldn't be able to "protect" anyone in the first place.

Napoli hit well this year, and played very good defense at 1B under the radar. Where are you getting that Napoli's career is on "borrowed time"?

Not being an effective option behind the plate =/= his career is over. His bat will play at DH and 1B...just ask the Red Sox

Here is the problem. Any negative thread gets lumped in with all the others, regardless of how much thought and effort was put into it. Even if it is bringing an original criticism to the table, it will still be seen as "whining" by some here. When a "negative" thread is started, you should expect "negative" responses. Likewise, when a positive thread is started, positive replies should be expected. Unfortunately there are some users here who don't understand that, but here, in this positive thread, you made a passive-aggressive comment towards people who have a more negative outlook which AJ took offense to because he thought you were referring to his thread (which this thread is a "parody" of). I can tell you AJ is one of the more laid back and positive posters here but he isn't afraid to tell it like it is. The people who bitch and moan about the bitching and moaning have this detestable "holier-than-thou" attitude and will look down on anyone who has an opinion that is different than theirs (I am not saying you are one of these people).

I do think the "10 minutes to Wapner" routine gets incredibly old and some people need to take a break from their computers and stop posting the same shit in every thread but for crying out loud, create more positive threads instead of bitching about the negative ones. If people hijack the thread with their crap then their posts should (and probably will) be deleted.

The fact is, there isn't a whole lot to be positive about right now. You even said it yourself. But what do you expect the forum to be like when the team sucks? People are going to vent, and say stupid shit, and people are also going to constructively critique the organization. You aren't going to see a whole lot of positivity when the Angels are playing golf after another horribly disappointing season. Negativity breeds discussion. That is just a fact. You can only have so many "wow this team is awesome!" posts before it begins to be boring and repetitive and then this forum becomes the angelsbaseball forum; dull and lifeless.

I realize that people are aware of all the negative aspects of this team, but to act like people shouldn't be discussing them is absurd. That is, after all, what a message board is for. If it gets tiring to you, don't read the threads. Or better yet, create threads that breed constructive, original thoughts and posts.

Yankees have received nearly 20 WAR for Arod in the first 6 years of the deal.
Angels have 4.4 WAR production from the Albert Pujols through 2 years.
Both contracts have plenty of years left.

I don't think it is debatable the Albert Pujols contract is the worst in the 3,000+ year history of professional sport.

Napoli is a way better 1st baseman/DH than the guy the organization essentially chose over him (Trumbo). Then they went and compounded an already horrendous decision by signing Albert Pujols. Now look where that has got us -- Pujols is arguably the worst contract ever, and Napoli is still mashing for a rival. It's just 3 straight offseasons of unbelievably bad decisions made by this org (Wells, Pujols, Hamilton). If it happens once, I'm fine chalking it up as a bad decision, and I was glad they fired Reagins. The Pujols and Hamilton signings only reinforce the simple fact that the owner is the root of the problem for this team. He's the same idiot who hired Tony Reagins in the first place.

Is there a factory in St. Louis where pitchers throw 99mph with plus offspeed pitches?
    Embarrassment of riches.
They pull out Carlos Martinez, Trevor Rosenthal, Shelby Miller.
We pull out Kevin Jepsen and Joe Blanton.

Clearly that time of the month, you should go take your midol pronto. It's funny to think back on all those arguments you made about Mathis playing over Napoli and seeing how stupid you all look now.
It was really sad how you "turned your back" on Napoli when he was a pretty good player for us, you just had to find a reason to complain about him. Sorry just channeling my inner whiny mtangelsfan for a second there.

Nobody's obsessed with him.  Its only that the playoffs are going on, and he's always in the playoffs, and a lot of times hitting home runs, so he gets talked about here, while our crack management team is having aggressive meetings.

Remember when Gutierrez, Stange, Rasmus, etc, were rejects? Oh wait, they still are. For every De la Rosa, there are 5 guys who cost you games while you're evaluating them on the mound (Remember Stange giving up that walk-off 3-run homer in that back-breaking loss against the Rangers?). I'd rather sign someone who, you know, is actually good to begin with so you don't have to play Russian roulette with every acquisition.
