I'd say managers have some role in guiding the team through the highs and lows of the season. Our current staff has done an absolute shit job of it; Nevin's the parent that goes and yells at the teacher when his delinquent kid does something stupid at school. 
Scioscia was good at this. Even during the years when Callaspo was batting cleanup and guys like Nolasco, JC Ramirez, and Pineiro were pitching significant innings the team was better than it is now. 

In a "yeah, actually living through World War 3 would at least be kind of interesting" way, I'm in favor of this.

This says it all to me.
the team is either checked the fuck out, trying too hard, or being fed really awful information to fix things.
There’s no way all these players just suddenly suck this hard. There’s a breakdown elsewhere.

Walsh is another piece of evidence that the most recent rebuild has been a failure so far.

Don't we always say this though? I'm afraid they're just going to say "we just need to stay healthy". 

The only thing that makes this the right decision is if Moreno opens the checkbook now.
Letting him walk or letting him and Trout wallow amongst mediocrity for the next decade are not acceptable options.
Frankly I think he is re-signed and then the Angels will still suck.

I agree.
Somewhere out there there is a GM who can use the pieces available and pull something like that off. Not sure it’s our current guy.
But if there ever was a player you could use as the centerpiece of a trade that could immediately reshape a troubled franchise, it’s Ohtani.
My vote is trade him if that opportunity arises.  My expectation is that they don’t trade him and lose him to free agency for nothing but they’ll have lots of excuses that are basically CYA and Strad will be bitchy to anyone who questions them.

This isn’t referring to you Jeff but if the team feels that way they are more screwed up than I thought. If you want to win in 2023 then you don’t trade Ohtani. If they think the key to winning next year is trading Ohtani then they should seek help.
Probably the worst thing they could do is trade Ohtani for short term assets.

I personally don’t think Ohtani will be an effective two way player for more than a handful of years.  3-4 more, perhaps.  And if trading him can rebuild the franchise then you do it.  If he is re-signed it will be another decade of Ohtani and Trout and a whole lotta drought.  Or something along those lines.

Gallo would be a perfect fit for this team. Trade for him and then give him a 7 year contract.

Nice win, seems like it's been a while since our last comeback victory

For 7 innings, this game seemed like any other bullshit Angel game.
But tonight was a fun game to be at, key hits by Ohtani, Rengifo, and Fletch made it awesome.  
 
Our pitching still leaves a lot to be desired, but for one night, it was fun.
