I bet each one of us has made at least one of those kind of posts, if not more.

Don't we all?  Technology is great but social media has only shown how stupid a scary number of people are.  Let's not act like most adults are geniuses either considering a lot of voters vote R or D because of the R or D next to a candidates name.  I'm guessing about the same percentage of kids at that college will go on to be successful contributing members of society as the rate of the graduating classes of AW posters.  

i usually can laugh off the shitiness of this team over the past few seasons. but albert's 8 years to go is like pulling a prank on the special ed kids.

Whoever the bankers and corporate overlords wants to win, will win.

Shouldn't you take it on a case by case basis?  Are you telling me you have no sympathy for the character TennAngelsfan outlined in his previous post?  Let's stop thinking in terms of stereotypes.  Every McDonald's worker isn't a dumb, fat, illiterate slob, contrary to the way some of you guys portray them.  Sure, there are people out there who lack ambition and are content making peanuts; but there are also people who are brought up in poverty and need to start working ASAP in order to support a family.  They don't have the time or resources for college; they don't have dress clothes to work--let alone even interview--at Nordstrom or Bloomingdales.  They need to put food on the table.  It's hard to save up and prepare for the future when you're making $8 an hour.  
 
Now, is it possible for these people to "make it"?  Yes, it is.  But let's not paint the picture of a one-dimensional idealized society where mere effort translates into immutable success.  Life is a lot more complicated than that.  

I was just reading with interest everyones comments.  I know the McD workers are grateful for any kind of job in our little town.  If they advertised any opening you'd have hundred line up to apply.
 
This sounds weird but I have a guy in my warehouse  making $10.00 an hour putting together chairs and tables.  He was making around $80,000. as a manager two years ago in one of our factories that closed.  He's a great guy and a heck of a worker.  At his age in our town there is no way he will ever get a good job again.  The jobs just aren't here anymore. Some people simply have to move to where the jobs are.  He was just desperate to have any work at all.  I told him when he started it wasn't much of a job and he wouldn't like it but he does.  I have to run him off to close.

Seems all the decent folks on the board are scared that lowlifes might organize and inconvenience their daily routine with their demands to be raised from third class to second class.

If they want to strike I would honor their picket line.

To the rest of it, I still support Obamacare over the prior system. The execution of the law, however, has been hideous. I wouldn't mind single payer but it is disingenuous to say that is my end goal. I'd prefer a system ore like Australia that includes both public and private elements.

I always thought the ultimate was when they convinced the general public that the two sides playing good cop-bad cop with their lives was democracy in action.

I tend to share the same view as the author, though I respect the personal sacrifices of many troops.
