  1. Honestly I'll stay at the Embassy suites on St. College and go to the Del Taco across the street before the game, also the Dragon Dogs truck used to be fun to hit before the game, but I think they moved the truck to another location. I think that the atmosphere around the Stadium has sucked for a long time, but since "we" (OC fans) have a reputation of showing up late, and leaving early, maybe the culture of hitting a sports bar for a beer before/after a game just isn't one that works for Angels fans? (On a large enough scale to support the area around the stadium). The only time I can ever remember sports bars being packed with Angels fans around game time was in 2002, but then again I haven't lived in OC for a while, so I could be completely in the wrong here.

On the flip side, Safeco Field was completely different, it was the most fun I had ever had before a game around that stadium, but the fact that Safeco resides in a much cooler part of Seattle helps, although I believe it wasn't always that way, as that part of Seattle was very industrial until Centurylink and Safeco existed?@Chuckster70 would know better than me about that though.

  2. Honestly he has barely pitched in a few years, his stuff looks good when he is "on", but he is stuck in his own head (Which seems to be a trend with our pitching staff).

It is interesting that we have been pinning our hopes on Heaney, Skaggs, and Richards for what seems like a decade, but all the forearm tightness followed by TJ Surgery/injections seem to stunt any growth from these guys. I'm rooting for Heaney to do well.

  3. Above

1.) Kole Calhoun - He has been working on hitting the ball the other way, and the shorter fence will help his power numbers. He might hit 30 HRs this year.

2.) Albert Pujols - Slimmer, healthier, not "as slow". I think power numbers drop but AVG and OPS increase, and will drive in 120+ RBIs.

3.) Ian Kinsler - Rebound year, he has something to prove.

    Below

1.) Shohei Ohtani - (Pitching and Hitting) - He is a prospect and a work in progress, and this is his rookie season, he needs a year to develop. I think he will be a better pitcher than hitter.

2.) Matt Shoemaker - One of my favorite Angels players, but I have to admit 2016 was more the exception than the norm, probably a 4+ ERA

3.) Andrelton Simmons - (Hitting) - He will still be the best defensive SS in baseball, but will end up .250-.260 BA.

    Bonus Mike Trout prediction:

    .302, 32 HR, 100 RBI, 31 SB, 1.006 OPS

  4. He is still classified as an MLB prospect. He is much younger than the other players who have come over from Japan. I didn't expect him to come in and turn into Mike Trout on the bat, and Justin Verlander on the mound this season. We aren't paying him very much so I am tempering my expectations this season. I'll be happy if he turns out to be a solid pitcher, and if he can hit then that is a bonus, but I am primarily hoping he turns into a top of the rotation pitcher first.

Holy crap, John, I just saw in your profile you reside in Missoula. I lived there back in the late 70's, parents live in Stevensville, cousins in Missoula proper. Beautiful area but Arizona is a nice change of temperature this time of year. Like a seat heater for snowbirds.

My best friend is a Padres fan so let me know when you plan on making the run and maybe we can see both an Angels and Padres game. And unlike Chuck I won't be inviting you back to the house for a dip in the pool with the "other guys."

I actually lived in Stevi when I first moved out here, but I hated the drive up Highway 93 to Missoula,  and also the lack of people, so now I live in Missoula city limits. I've been trying to move to Seattle for the past year or so, but it hasn't happened yet. I am definitely up for a meetup at Safeco field sometime this season. Are you in the Pacific NW @Blarg?

Also here's an actual picture of @Chuckster70 and the guys from last night in Tempe:

I forgot, @Dave Saltzer will also be in town!

    Looking forward to this.

Have fun guys, enjoy the sausage fest that is AngelsWin.com. I would have flown down from Montana to join you but I am barely social enough on the message board, let alone in real life, also I don't want to be @Chuckster70's little spoon. :D I'll see some of you at Safeco sometime this season.

  7. I'm intrigued to watch him hit, I'm also glad I'm off work today so I can watch the game. I feel like the expectations for him are insane. Bill Plaschke was already calling him a flop after 1 inning, and I feel like people kept forgetting that its spring training, and he is adjusting to a new league. I temper my expectations for him until he gets his bearings. Lets not forget Mike Trout batted .220 in his first 123 at-bats (even though he was only 19, and Ohtani is 23).
