Hey guys just want to wish you all a Happy Father’s Day!  

My dad has been gone for about 9 years now, but he and my brother got me into baseball and more specifically the Angels. I’ve talked a lot about my dad over the years here. He was a good humble man, with a kind heart. He was quick to laugh at his own stories and jokes. His laugh was like Bert from Sesame Street. If your dad is still around, connect with him today. If he isn’t spend some time talking about him or doing something you enjoyed doing together. Me, I’ll be watching the game with my brother and spending time with my family. Happy Father’s Day everyone!

If I recall correctly, Salmon was the one who called the team meeting in 2002 when they started 6-14.

That would be another stupid waste of money.

Matt V is like the dad who abandons you and shows up every once in awhile to pep talk you only to disappear again. 

On pace for a 3 WAR season. His hitting is picking up lately so hopefully he can get his average up to .260 or so. Would end up closer to 4 if that's the case.
Not ideal, but not the complete disaster some think it is. His OPS+ is 119. 

The only really honest answer is "no fucking idea." His breakout is totally unexpected - although it seems we could give Maddon a little credit. I mean, it was only a month ago that he was declaring Ward the everyday RF and we were all throwing coniption fits. Now it looks like Maddon was a genius.
I think Doc did a good job analyzing his plate approach, and Warfarin mentioned the Fangraphs article that said you can't fake power and discipline. The only other piece I would add is that I don't think you can hit like this for 25 games and it not be legit. Or if we're going on PA, I wonder how many players who have had a 200+ wRC+ for their first 100 PA--or even 200 wRC+ in ANY stretch of 100 PA--that didn't become bonafide stars. Every player with major league talent can have a hot streak, but 100 PA is a bit more than that.
Will he have a 264 wRC+, or even 200, for the whole season? Of course not. But is he a legit elite batter now? I'm starting to believe. Meaning, to answer your last question: I don't think it is a fluke - not at this point. But exactly how good he will be over the course of the year, or next few years, is anyone's guess. 

Whenever I see latter-day Apollo Creed, I think of his severed arm still firing away in Predator.

On Wards homerun last night Bobby V forgot he was announcing and on moment of contact knowing it was gone let out his general baseball fan ''Yes!'' before Vasgersian even started to announce the home run call  lol!   pretty funny moment but it was great ... There was also another time last night when he quietly mumbled something like ''can't do that'' or ''don't do that'' reacting instantly to the play on the field while Vasgersian was talking about something else  lol 

This is by far our best announcing team.

Taylor Ward is a stone cold killer.

I’ve been happy enough with O’Neil and Gubi but I really like Matty and Bobby V together
