However, I think it is just as dumb to not vote for someone because of their last name as it would be to vote for someone for the same reason.  It is no different than just voting "R" or "D".

I never met Mike but his love for the Angels and funny awesome posts are part of my memories now.  He made me laugh and smile numerous times.  
 
He will be missed here but always remembered!

I missed this thread with all of the Kendrick trade excitement and just now got to it. Mike and I attended a few Angelswin events together, along with the 2012 Spring Training dinner which featured Mike but was upstaged by Arte telling boring stories about his time in Viet Nam. We all had to sit politely and listen to him drone on, after all he does own the team. About 53:30 it gets interesting, simply because Mike is talking.
 

 
Also during the Spring Training Fanfest Tim Mead from the Angels front office will give a speech on Sunday morning after the dinner for Mike and we are allowed to attend. Not sure if Tim will get out of bed this upcoming season. If you will notice Mike is the smart guy sitting way back up the aisle knowing Chuck drinks way too much the night before and has a bladder control problem.
 

 
 
Players gravitated to Mike, hoping that hot chicks would seem them standing next to the guy with the cool hat and think they are cool as well. Chicks dig the pointed hat and he let them try and score points just posing with him.
 

 
Even his buddy Derek tried to wear the hat to change his luck. Nice try, he couldn't even beat me at poker a couple weeks back, I just wonder how he makes a living in Las Vegas. He must park cars at the Circus Circus.
 

 
 
 
Mike was always a friendly guy and not afraid to shake hands with complete strangers as long as he kept eye contact with security should some shenanigans take place.
 

 
I attended one game in particular with Mike which was historical in an Angels perspective, it was the first time Mike's hat was present for a club strikeout record. I'm pretty sure they would not have bothered had he not been there.

I disagree.  Heaney will likely turn out to be very good, but for 2015 its unlikely he's an upgrade over whoever he'd be replacing as much as the downgrade of going from howie to green/rutledge.  at best it's a wash, but probably not for this year.

I think this is a good trade but people are either over estimating how good Green will be or underestimating how good Howie will be next year. Howie had been a top 5 second baseman over the last 3 seasons and its just getting to the end of his prime. Those guys don't just fall off of trees.
The Angels needed pitching, especially young pitching. This is a good deal but let's not pretend losing Kendrick won't hurt.

Like the idea of the trade, hate losing Howie the player and Howie the person.

This is the mentality of most americans.  Of course then we would get butthurt when our soldiers are mistreated in captivity.  Because we are good guys and they are bad guys.  it is just such a simple equation.

He's like that douchey uncle that is completely inappropriate with the women in the family, especially the young ones, but never quite crosses the line into full pedo.

I can say that as easily as you can quote yours.  It is simply anyone's guess what kind of problem it is.
 
ps, I think your black/white, good/bad views are naive.  There isn't a good side and a bad side.  There is a powerful government that gets more powerful every day.  It doesn't matter which party is in power, the one common denominator is we, the people, continue to hand over our rights.  Dem/Rep, Lib/Con doesn't matter as long as we keep bending over and saying "Thank you Uncle Sam, may I have another?"

Actually he did a couple years ago. It was pretty creepy.
