Nobody really knows the exact impact managers make or how valuable they really are. 
 
With that said, do people actually think the difference between the best managers and worst managers is worth that much? I'll take a wild guess and say a good manager can MAYBE help you win 3-5 extra games. And I may be pushing it. 
 
They write down the lineups and try to manage the bullpens as best as they can. These guys aren't the difference between winning 90 games and 100 games. 
 
I think Scioscia has done fine and did a good job this past season. He platooned well, which was nice to see and he utilized the bullpen roles pretty darn well. 
 
I'm not going to play the blame game and say Scioscia is the reason the Angels lost in the playoffs. The bunt attempts in Game 1 were bad but the Angels didn't play very well throughout the series. A manager can only do so much.

He knew he was getting top 10 draft pick money. If he goes with baseball he's making shit for 6 years then hoping he is healthy and plays well enough to get a decent contract when he is FA eligible.
I would have done the same thing. Fully guaranteed 12.5m. Just playing the numbers, a lot of dudes don't make it in baseball.

Calhoun?  I like his game, but I never would've thought he'd be a "finalist" for a Gold Glove.   He has a strong arm and makes some diving grabs, but I don't see him as a particularly good defensive outfielder.  I did figure his defensive performance would improve from his rookie stint, though.   That was an aberration.

Cespedes for his arm - Yes.  For his glove - Heck, no.

Peavy was pretty awful in the al this year, I wouldn't touch him.

From a baseball perspective this postseason has been incredibly boring. Every series was completey lopsided with either a sweep or the losing team only winning one game.

Good for Jerome, but it is more like a low risk, low reward signing IMO.

I'm going out on a limb and say they were out pitched tonight.

You are as good as your next days starter. Royals will be fine. The Angels, Tigers and Orioles already embarrassed the AL.

Looks like he had only 2 bad months.  How many would take this 36 year old's production from Hamilton and/or Pujols

Kendrick is 6th in WAR among 2nd basemen since 2010. I know you don't like the guy but pretending like he's an awful player is quite funny. 
 
As far as the zero game plan comment, he walked at the highest rate of his career this season. I wouldn't consider that to be "no adjustment". 

Except Matsui wasn't bad for us. .820 OPS, 126 OPS+, and 21 homeruns isn't so bad for a lefty DH bat. Shit I'd take that right now. 

He was healthy in year 1 and stunk. He was healthy the 2nd half this season(unitl September) and stunk. His little hot streak to start the year was 2 weeks worth, which happens all the time to every player over the course of a season. I don't have much hope for him but yes, they are stuck with him and aren't going to cut bait(yet) with 3 years left and so much money still owed to him
 
I fully expect him to not finish out his entire contract here though.
