Pancake Bear reacted to ettin in THE Official 2019-2020 Hot Stove Thread
The market is limited in RF options but to look at this another way, all teams have to do is gamble that the Angels will buy him out and then pay him less money to sign as a free agent.
All depends on Kole's market of which I am sure Eppler has explored and understands pretty well. I am leaning now more toward the Angels simply buying him out.

Pancake Bear got a reaction from Angel Oracle in 2020 Opening Day in Houston
Significantly more likely than him being on the mound for the Astros.

Pancake Bear got a reaction from ten ocho recon scout in Both Cole and Strasburg?
He's a self-professed conspiracy theorist. Why would we expect him to express intelligent analysis?

Pancake Bear got a reaction from Angelsjunky in AngelsWin.com Today: The 21 Best Position Players in the Game
“By now you know I’m cheating: I’m offering a top 21, because while I’m OK excluding #22 Ketel Marte (for now), I cannot bear to keep Altuve off the list.”
Call it the top twenty after Trout.

Pancake Bear reacted to Stradling in What's the Absolute Maximum you would spend on Gerrit Cole? (And others?)
So players make shit money early despite possibly being great, but the moment they make great money in decline the owners should be able to get out of the contract? Yea bullshit.

Pancake Bear got a reaction from Angel Oracle in How much is Cole's price gonna go up tomorrow?
Why would it go up? Are you assuming he pitches tomorrow? Because I’m pretty sure he won’t pitch more than 2-3 innings.

Pancake Bear reacted to Lou in Halos Gold Glove candidates
I think there should be an award for outstanding utility players.

That the Gold Glove is a bit of a joke award?

Pancake Bear reacted to Angel Oracle in Both Cole and Strasburg?
I'd take Wheeler over Strasburg. Wheeler, like Cole, only turns 30 in 2020. Strasburg will be 32 in 2020, and has only two seasons in the past five where he pitched over 150 innings, and thus making durability a question mark.

unfortunately, the award isn't a GG for Various Positions. He's nominated as a 3rd baseman and Chapman is a beast.

Pancake Bear got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Mickey Callaway to the Angels as pitching coach
The Indians had the best cumulative ERA in the AL from 2013-17. Mickey Callaway was their pitching coach. Now he's going to be the Angels pitching coach.
Edit: Confirmed by Fletcher and Heyman.

We don't need any infielders. We need a catcher and pitchers.

cozart has zero trade value right now. there's a fair chance he won't be able to play again.

Pancake Bear reacted to ukyah in Sports Illustrated's top 50 free agents: has us signing Strasburg and Castro
those strasburg numbers are not going to get it done. he's sitting on four years 100 million right now, even if he only wanted one more year at 25 million, do you think DC wouldn't give it to him? i don't think he's leaving DC anyway. i think he opts out and DC adds years to his contract, effectively speaking.

Yep. These kinds of articles are Bleacher Report level analysis. If we were gonna get an infielder, that wouldn’t be it.
