If you're honest, none of the Angels starters have "earned" the opening day bid in the traditional sense of designation of staff ace. Reid still needs to build consistency, which he says himself. Giving laurels before they are due is the kiss of death.

That may be the case but I will say this.
The first MLB ownership that has the balls to sign him gets my 💯 respect and I’ll be rooting for them — unless it’s the Dodgers or any AL WEST team. 

It looks like the betting was being done with an illegal bookmaker though.  So even if there's no baseball betting, there's legal implications that could be way worse.

In the classroom the next day, Mike told his story first, "My dad is a farmer and we have chickens. One day we were taking lots of eggs to market in a basket on the front seat of the truck when we hit a big bump in the road; the basket fell off the seat and all the eggs broke. "Good heavens," said the horrified teacher. "What did your father say was the moral of that frightening story?"
 
"Stay away from Aunt Judy when she's drunk."
