Torii is a nice guy and all, and was a good player for longish time, but a Hall of Famer he is not. He's pretty classic Hall of the Very Good.
Or to put it another way, he's 34th all-time among center fielder in JAWs, right between two other HoVGs, Curtis Granderson and Willie Wilson:

Tim Hudson and Mark Buehrle could also stick around the ballot. But none of the new guys will get in.

So we've already failed with our selection of GM a day after it's been announced. Got it. 1 she wasn't one of the people we interviewed so we didn't miss on anything. 2 we have no idea how our guy will do or how she will do, hope she does well but who the heck knows on either of the hires at the moment right now it's just well wishes and hopes. 3 I don't know what NGL means.... 4 Go Angels we made our hire there is no going back now. Wait a couple years and then get back to me.

I think we can just be happy for both Ng and Minasian and not say we "missed out."  Both have unique paths and worked very hard to get to where they are.  They are also both minority hires, which is great for baseball.

Stanton it's looking more and more like the right call to sell him off that guy is consistently injured. Yellich may be a big regret though.

Don’t recall seeing her name in our list of finalists.  Not too surprised. All she’s done is win.  We are 1-69.

Yeah, exactly this.  I have seen various people say this is like Eppler all over again, but Eppler went from one of the top 2 spending teams in the sports (and that's not just payroll - it includes FO budget, scouting budget, etc etc) to the Angels.  The Angels certainly spend a good amount, but they aren't the Yankees, so Eppler likely had to learn to get by with less resources than he was used to.
Minasian, on the other hand, is coming from two organizations who have spent less than the Angels.  He's used to having to be creative and help scout and find talent to help build teams.  He'll likely have access to more resources to use here, and hopefully, Arte invests more in the FO and provides Minasian with the tools he needs to succeed.
Over the upcoming weeks, asides from obvious decisions on the roster, I look forward to seeing some of the people he starts to bring into the fold for our FO.

For me that's kind of what I wanted for a GM I wanted someone who came from a lower budget team who's done well. Like how Friedman went from TB to LA. I don't think big budget teams is necessarily the way to win in today's baseball. It's about building a team from within and not just buying the older free agent the Pujols, Hamilton, Upton's (yes I know he wasn't a free agent) of the world. I've said it numerous times that I wouldn't sign anyone to contracts past when they are 34 or 35 and that's typically what you have to do with these big time free agents. I am excited to see what "the Minasian" can do for this club and help build a sustainable winner again.

For all the hand-wringing that we were either going to hire someone directly tied to Maddon (McLeod) or someone Arte knew well from before (Holland), it's cool to see we went outside the organization and hired someone with no ties to, well, anyone currently with our team.
With a lot of our budget already tied to significant contracts, it'll be up to Minasian to figure out ways to draft + develop and find value on the market.  Given that he worked for two organizations that don't have big budgets (TOR, ATL) - I would say he is well-positioned to utilize the principles he has learned to find talent.
I like the first move he made (signing Wong) as a low-risk deal that could potentially fill a need for us.  There is a ton of work to do, but I have high hopes for him.

Let's be honest, the first name "Perry" is a pretty lame first name, so "The Minasian" is far more endearing.

I doubt there is a single person on this board that thinks Arte is literally the best owner in baseball, or that he hasn't made his fair share of mistakes.  I estimate the number of people in this category is zero.
The only healthy way to judge him overall is to also consider how things could be different with a different owner.  I am not even remotely interested in throwing those dice and hoping for better.
Arte is one of the better owners.  Better than average.  So I just can't get on the Arte hate train.
And for fun, let me throw this out there.  For all you Arte haters who think he can't make a good decision. . . guess who would be picking the next owner if he sells?
Chew on that.  And then find some way to relax on the Arte hate.

Hand went unclaimed on 1 year for 10 mill and now Stroman takes QO. I feel players feel money will not be there this year. Teams will take a wait and see approach as many players will be  available.

What an incredible leader. Doesn’t he have a couple of these things already? I get that he’s 100 years old and doesn’t care anymore. But dude has plenty of money to get a driver or pay for an Uber Black or whatever. Guys an utter tool! Glad he’s no longer an Angel and I bet he’s not long for the White Sox either.
