This morning on MLB Network radio - Jim Bowden said he thinks Giolito was hurt last year. His 7+ ERA over his last 12 starts was a warning sign and he doesn't think the Red Sox did an MRI as part of Giolito's physical.

there's a point where a lack of a proper spring impacts the economics of any deal for these players.  
are we confident that Snell and Montgomery are going to be as good as expected in the first year?  
theoretically it might pull a couple starts out but preparing for the season while actually in season is much different than getting your reps in from the beginning.  
It could affect the entire year.  

Where that falls apart is if Rendon is too hurt to play every day, but not hurt enough to be on the IL. 

Don't disagree with most of what you say....but, at some point, shouldn't an agent read the market and tell his guys, "this is probably going to be the best we can do"?  Chapman turned down over 100 million from the Blue Jays last year, undoubtedly with Boras' input. Did he read the market correctly?  If Snell turned down 6/150 from the Yankees in  January, as has been reported, will he make, either in a shorter term or longer term deal, at 31, 150 million before he retires?  I just think stubborn, obnoxious and hardball playing doesn't always serve the player well.  Most times, it probably does, but flexibility is a good thing. But that's just me.

The reality is almost any player could skip a few days for tightness and it's a complete non story. Rendon has brought attention to himself to where things like this become fodder.

Yes please to JD Davis. I think major league level insurance at 3rd and 1st would be a huge addition to the roster. Schaunel is still learning and Rendon is Rendon. 

Working out on your own also doesn’t get you reps in a real game against big league hitters. No matter how much Boras tries to downplay its importance.

I still believe that the Angels aren't going to sign either of them based on what I was told in December and because I've already turned the page on these guys. 
Hope the Giants load up and add one of the two to compete with the Dodgers and Diamondbacks.
If the Angels sign one of them, I would love it as I always said this team needs a clear #1 ace and I believe it could also open up some possibilities for the BP and for a trade for something else down the road with all of our OF's.

The concern with a long term deal is those 4 other seasons where he never exceeded 130 innings.

I think that's Adrianza's role to lose at this point.

I leave DH spot open. JD Martinez will just be taking AB away from young players like Moniak and Adell. Let this be year to see what young players can do. Adell and Moniak could be part of that and JD will not be.

I really still wouldn’t mind Lorenzen or Clevinger. They are both better than Anderson and it allows Silseth to have time to develop.
