This may be my biggest peeve of all about so-called "inspirational" topics. I have no issue whatsoever with motivating someone to be the best that they can be. To insinuate that they are already there without anything to back it up is counterproductive, and it can instill an unjustified arrogance which is then imposed on others - be they classmates, teachers, or anyone else who the child may encounter.
It may also inspire my second-biggest peeve, the compliment fisher. Most of these are middle-aged women who want to be told that they are physically beautiful years after that particular ship has sailed, if they were ever even aboard it (most of the ones who I know personally weren't pretty when they were young).
It's OK not to be blessed with good looks, because few people are, and advancing age tends to be the great equalizer. Just don't ask me to lie to you so that you can feel better about yourself. I can't imagine going onto Facebook and asking people to tell me that I'm handsome. I'm not that delusional.

I have seen some topics here about "2016 Strikes Again." On Saturday Morning, July 9th, 2016; I suffered a Massive Pulmonary Embolism. My niece found me on the floor and called the paramedics, and by the time they got me to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, I was close to death. They put me under at the time of my arrival. While I was in ER, I had stopped breathing, and they raced against time to resuscitate me before any brain damage was done. They were successful, but I was in a coma for about 26 hours. I came to the next day in ICU and began a long recovery. I was in Memorial Hospital a good part of July 2016.
  I just want to say, It is great to be alive and I am so glad that I made it to, and experience the Christmas Season 2016. Now I get to experience 2017, and I think about those who didn't get that chance to experience the 2017 New Year (Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds and others). I just want to wish everyone here a Great New Year (2017), and I hope everyone here had a Great Christmas Season like I did.
