I believe there is a middle ground - is it serious ? Yes , Is it real ? Yes
The problem is we keep getting people saying “ it’s too soon “ too soon to be in public , too soon to go to a baseball game , too soon for Disneyland to open etc etc .
We hear a lot of “too soons “ if now is too soon when will it be ok ? When there’s a vaccine ? (12-18 months ) when it completely goes away ? ( years ) . We may have to come to grips with reality - this thing is going to be around for a while - so how do we go back to living life with it in our midst ? Let’s take baseball for example - it’s been common opinion that outdoors are safer . So let’s say Angel stadium holds 40,000 ( I should know the capacity ) so what If we capped admission to 10,000 game - leaving 30,000 seats to social distance outside ?
We may have to think about things like this if this virus doesn’t go away ( it won’t anytime soon I hate to say - hope I’m wrong )

Agreed Chuck - these are young men in top physical shape they will be ok - the constant charts , graphs and endless predictions are breeding fear . Is this virus real - yes but the reaction is overblown - if we had charts , graphs , endless news stories on every virus we would never leave our homes again.

I would believe this except for the fact that if either Bill or Hillary could have someone killed, they'd both be dead.

Most likely tested and showed no symptoms. Lots of those out there walking around and testing whole teams is going to shed some light on just how many people actually have this (or had this) but didn't show symptoms.

Agree with Chuck, I'd hate to see everyone freak out about this.
Most of the PCR tests apparently have a very long tail off where you can test positive many weeks (possibly months?) after you've essentially recovered from the virus.  Even if you had it many weeks ago, the PCR tests still detect unviable virus RNA for quite a time afterwards.
We're now into the mode of testing lots of asymptomatic people (work place requirements, etc), so we are going to get a lot of positive tests that really are on the tail end of a prior infection.
And that's assuming they used PCR (nose/throat swab) tests here.  If they are blood antibody tests, then it's even more likely these positives are just revealing prior infections.

I believe most everyone has had this virus already, just contracted it or will eventually get and much to their surprise they had little to ZERO symptoms. Testing has ramped up, so there's obviously going to be more cases now than March, April and May. Duh!
There's a 98% chance if you've contracted this virus that you're going to live. If you just got it, the odds are in their favor. So please just stop!
Unless you're grandma or grandpa or in shitty health, your chances are pretty damn good of surviving this novel flu. But these guys in professional sports don't fit the profile. They're mostly in tip top shape. If they have an underlying health condition, sit the season out. If you're a staff member wear a mask.
I'll even add, I've read many stories of those in their 90's and a handful in their early 100's that have survived the Corona Virus.
    Everyone needs to chill.

Two things. I've said it over and over that Trump needs to stay off Twitter and just do his job. I don't mind him trolling the media during his press briefings, but he doesn't need to defend everything that the fake news media publishes. The truth always rises to the top! So yeah, he comes across as a buffoon sometimes on Twitter and he's pretty damn arrogant.
That said, I think he's doing the right thing by opening shit back up.
Just to add some context here.
The Stanford antibody testing is out - it estimates ~3% of people in Santa Clara County (CA) have been infected and recovered, 50-plus times the estimate of confirmed active cases. More evidence SARSCoV2 is far more widespread and thus less dangerous than expected..

I will start with me. I am willing to go right now if it preserves freedom and future economic prosperity for my son. I wish we didn't have to lose anyone but that isn't reality . Poverty kills and we are dooming millions of young Americans to a life of poverty. The young are not dying in large numbers. I don't want my son or grandchildren sacrificing one ounce of freedom or opportunity  for me. We can protect the populations as needed but there are areas and populations of people that need to be set free. I understand your argument and I know you mean well.

You are making some pretty good points. Death is awful but I am willing to bet more AW members are suffering more from the shutdown than will suffer from the virus. Small sample group but I bet this scenario plays out for most of America. I may be petty but I am pretty pissed about missing my son's last 25 games and graduation. Fortunately, he has college games and hopefully graduation ahead but a lot of kids don't. Think of all the kids unemployed kids who needed money for school this fall. Others have professional aspirations and are struggling to perfect skills that others are perfecting without government limitations. Hard working American are in danger of losing everything. We have to eventually respect their right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

In a couple of months we really need to get to a point where those that are lower risk get back into the world.  The unemployment thing seems to be a bit ridiculous because some people are getting paid more than they did while working but it is what it is and I just hope they don't plan to blindly extend it after 4 months.

I'd love to start a metal band and have the frontman dress like Cookie Monster that would rule

"The problem. . ."?  No, the problem is the Angels need a front line starter.
The whole point I am making is it is a LARGER problem to not have the pitcher you need.  This isn't a roster in transition anymore.  It is built to win now.
I understand what you are saying.  But in a way you are showing exactly what I am trying to avoid:  Being too focused on the cost instead of being focused on what you get back.  If the market acts normally, frankly I would be absolutely thrilled to land the pitcher that comes here at the costs Marsh, Adams and Knowles.
That would probably be an absolute beast, which the Angels need far more than depth in minor league outfield prospects.

    Ill say this.
Yes, we need pitching. Same as always.
But regardless of how that shakes out, it will at least be fun again. Not just trout and shohei, with occasional nice hitting from others.
We will finally have a lineup that can mash again.
And all this as the adell era is set to take off...
