The pitching would still have been the weak link again though Chuck. The offense should be a lot better, the pitching should be slightly better.

Meronde crapped the field from the mound allowing baserunners on the corner.  Butcher comes out to settle him down and he goes 3-1 against the next hitter.  Then Scioscia wanders onto the diamond like a drooling drunken late-stage Alzheimer patient off his meds.  Scioscia gets pulled aside by the ump, turns around, wanders off the field, then Meronde throws an Intentional Ball to load the bases up.

The next batter then cleared the bases.

If, as many posters believe, the Angels didn't care the game last night doesn't last 19 innings. If the Angels were truly mailing it in they would not have continued to turn double plays and lay down successful sacrifice bunts and found a way to lose that game well before the 19th inning. The Angels have serious issues and I'm not trying to gloss over any of them but it is wrong to say they don't care.

Since I have already purchased my tickets, I will be attending at least 2 games this weekend...but I get to watch a baseball game live on a bright sunny afternoon, enjoy a cold beer with friends...and maybe a win.

    It's still baseball.

Tyler reacted to Blarg in I think it's time for a break
Sports is just entertainment, or at least is supposed to be, but so many people dive into it so deep, researching every player, every trade, every signing, any prospects on the horizon or potential international signings they forget they are not part of the team or management, they are only a fan. When they forget the premise of why they watch sports they can never really enjoy it unless there is a never ending string of success.

When anything in your life becomes so all consuming that your mood is completely contolled by an event you can't control, you need to break away from it. Gene Mauch retired from coaching and once was quoted that he just could not take the loses any longer and baseball is always about 60 losses, 60 wins and to reach the playoffs it is determined by the results in 42 games. When you can't handle the 60+ losses you can't handle baseball. From the postings on this website it is obvious many here cannot handle any losses let alone 60, 70 or 80.

Maybe the idea of being a sports fan is not reaching those people. Maybe they need to go back to not having so much information to make decisions that they really are not involved in, whether it is player management or aquisition. Maybe they need to go to a game where they don't know every little detail about everyone involved on the field and just see the game unfold as the pure entertainment that it offers.

Or maybe they need to take a break, a real break where they kick this control habit and move on to something else in their lives. Because for many here, baseball is just not any fun and as a result they just are not any fun to be around when the Angels lose, in fact they aren't even happy when they win.

I think I am going to take in a game up in Lancaster tonight or tomorrow night. Never been to that stadium, don't know who is on that team, heck I barely know the 66ers roster. Should be a good time because it is baseball.

Once again, the Angels first pick in the upcoming draft won't be until the 2nd round, 59th overall. Their second pick will be 95th overall. So two picks in the first 100 selections and 3 in the first 130.

With a damn near empty farm system, and a weak Major League pitching staff, the Angels need to turn to ML-ready college arms.

Tyler reacted to Nowani in LA Times: Battle between Angels, StubHub picks up steam
This is a big battle and the Yankees and Angels are in the same situation. This article was very confusing as the way the title reads, it makes it sound like the Angels are the ones behind this action. It's actually stubhub. Buried 8 paragraphs down is the crux of the article.

The disagreement between StubHub and the Angels is simple and it centers around floor pricing. StubHub does not believe in floor pricing and thinks the market should set the lowest price a ticket can be sold out. The Angels on the other hand want to set floor pricing for each section.

Looks like he's all the way back from TJ Surgery. His fastball was clocked consistently in the 94-95 range. Could be a valuable member of the bullpen if he can keep this up going forward.

He had a 0.00 ERA and 7 K's through 4 innings of relief work in AAA before his recall.

The pitching sucks. I knew this going into the season, but hoped it wouldn't be so bad. Pitching is the problem. Once they figure out how to fix it then everything will be fine. Until then, expect a .333 winning percentage.
