Michael Kohn looked GREAT today!

Looks like he's all the way back from TJ Surgery. His fastball was clocked consistently in the 94-95 range. Could be a valuable member of the bullpen if he can keep this up going forward. 

 

He had a 0.00 ERA and 7 K's through 4 innings of relief work in AAA before his recall.

Yea, I'm tentatively excited about the bullpen. With Madson getting closer and Cordero moved up to AAA. I'm hoping in a few weeks or a month the bullpen can be fully trusted. We shall see.

He was a bit wild. That has been his problem, even in the minors, but he can get away with it a bit because he misses bats. I agree with Greg.  I think the bullpen will work out, especially if Madson gets back.

Kohn issue has never been velocity. Even when he's throwing 92, his delivery was deceptive enough to warrant misses.  However, I spoke with him this Spring.  He DID rework his delivery/release, the newer version allows him to get on top of the ball and control it better and also gets him more bite on his breaking ball. 

 

The whole thing with him is when he's ready, he'll be ready for the 7th inning role.  It's really  black and white, there's no middle ground.  When he's one and he has it dialed in and figured out, he's not gonna be touched.  It's just a matter of him reaching that point.  I thought he'd reach it by next season, but there's always the possibility he'll reach it this year.
