It will take Trout and Rendon staying healthy, and Rendon being able to at least come close to the numbers we expected when we signed him.
It will take Rengifo continuing his 2022 breakout.
It will take Fletcher at least not looking clueless at the plate all the time.

Signing Ohtani to an extension is obviously their top priority, so until they get a firm no on the possibility of that, their stance makes sense. Ideally, they come to a solution one way or another on this during the offseason. If Ohtani's camp indicates he won't re-sign, then the Angels need to do the smart thing and trade him for as much as they can get. He's a once in a lifetime talent, but the price will decline the longer they wait and teams won't be as interested in paying so much for just a 2 or so month rental at next years deadline

and then other owners and players complain when A's don't spend.  As opposed to what? Wasting money on shitheads like Rendon?  Or pitchers that end up needing to be paid $30M+ for 2 years of tommy john rehab.  I'd pocket that money too.  Baseball is a joke and will be until they have a floor, cap, and non-fully guaranteed contracts.  So basically MLB will always be a joke and for the foreseeable future the Angels will be the punchline.
