Griffey's Corner got a reaction from Second Base in Who is still in love with Blash?
I was never a fan of Blash to begin with. That being said how about we give him more than 18 at bats before we decide.

It's good to know that anyone with any baseball sense knows this..... I guess you are saying the manager & Eppler do not have baseball sense.... as they still have him on the MLB roster & still with the organization.

FYI if you have not put me on ignore.... please feel free to do so.

You are not Nostradamus just because you root & predict someone to fail coming up from AAA.... and seem very happy when they do. The odds are the majority will fail. If for every 5 guys we call up one turns out to be a cheap stud.... I would call that a success.

I would not be angry at all.

    1. Trout has a right to play where he wants. He has earned that right.
    2. Trout would have done more for Angels baseball than almost anybody else.
    3. Baseball is just a game. There is more important things in life.
    4. Trout in his 30's may not be as good as Trout in his 20's.
    5. The Angels could get a boatload of prospects for Trout and save $40 million a year and sign 2 or 3 additional studs.... the year after Griffey left the mariners went 116-46.... I still cheered for Griffey.... but despised the Mariners.
    6. Even if Trout goes to a different team we can still root for his success.
    7. Even if Trout leaves does not me he may not come back someday.... again the Griffey example.
    8. Trout may be justifiable in his reasons for wanting to leave.... be closer to his home & family or whatever his reasons may be.... he has the inalienable right to feel whatever way he wants.
    9. it could end up serving as a wake up call to the Angels organization and motivate them to work even harder to be successful.
    10. Trout would still probably go into the Hall of Fame as an Angel.... see Griffey & Pujols.

I agree with not wanting to pay the money to Richards. But unfortunately it's the cost of doing business.

Which is the reason as soon as his hamstring heals up in the next couple of weeks I would trade him for a couple of stud prospects.

I am usually not one to throw anyone under the bus..... but seriously if the Angels want to get serious about winning they need to fire there medical staff & there strength & conditioning staff.

The season is not even half over and this year alone we have lost how many pitchers to TJ.... Ramirez, Ohtani, Wood, Middleton.

And why does Meyer need 2 years to recover from a 3-4 month surgery & recovery time injury?

we will have to agree to disagree. No worries.

But to say that because someone has already had TJ surgery that they are now immune from it again is not correct.

before his injury today if he had won 15 games sported an era of 3.21.... yeah I think someone would have ponied up $100 million.... take a look at past baseball contracts for starting pitchers. You guys act like they grow on trees.

How much have we paid Richards for the last 3-4 years with all these injuries when we still had him under team control. We are paying him $9 million this year to win 4 games. In the last 3 years we have paid Richards $24 million to make 25 starts.

As far as trading Richards under the premise of he was healthy and sporting the era of 3.21 that he had at the start of today...... to only think we would receive a "B" prospect is laughable.

Griffey's Corner got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Should Valbuena be DFA'd right now?
It kind of was the plan though. Injuries are part of the game and to be expected. It's a long 162 game season. If they were not planning on that than that is silly. After all they kept Valbuena over Cron because Valbuena is such a stud defensively at 3b & 1b.

They had less injuries than they thought they would so they shipped Chris Carter off to Minnesota for cash considerations.

They are a good team. Probably on pace to win 87-88 games? Maybe they don't make the playoffs this year. There is always next year. Let's look at the positives

    1. The farm system is looking good.
    2. The arrow is pointing up.
    3. Mike Trout
    4. Ohtani is a stud pitcher and he might be a good hitter.... small sample size..... & he brings in revenue for the owner.
    5. Simmons- one of the best SS in the game.... having a career year at the plate so far.
    6. The starting pitching overall this year has been really good... look at years past and compare.
    7. Fernandez is 5 for 12.... if he turns out to be a hitter that will be huge.
    8. Eppler has had some good drafts and good player acquisitions
    9. Team defense is awesome. Gold Glove catcher, SS, etc.
    10. If the manager stays great..... if not this is the last year of a 10 year contract.

    Negatives.
    1. Eppler's acquistions on offense have been questionable.... although not a complete failure.... He did get Upton for very little prospect currency.
    2. Pujols is one year closer to retiring.... and he kind of is chugging along.... he is giving his best effort.
    3. Blash- give the guy some time. Very very small sample size..... maybe he only hits .200 with a HR every 20 at bats..... still better than any other RF right now.
    4. Injuries to the pitching staff.... whatever they are doing it is wrong.... workouts, diet, training, stretching, throwing splitters, workload, ???? I do not know.... but whatever it is they need to do the opposite of what they have been doing.

So overall the team is looking good. It will get better. and maybe just maybe it's a blessing sometimes to not go to the playoffs..... I still have nightmares about 1986. And anyways the season is not even half over plenty of time to win some more games and see what happens.
With the payroll we have and the young players coming up the Angels will be a force to be reckoned with for quite awhile. The Mariners in 3 years will be a disaster..... I guarantee it.

If Trout does not want to extend..... than the angels will have very very little leverage. We will be very lucky to get a fraction of what we could get. The longer it goes the less leverage & value the Angels will receive.

sometimes the best trades are the ones you do not make. A lot of people on here talk about the golden era of Angels baseball from 2002-2009..... the one thing about that era was we kept the core of prospects intact. We did not do a lot of trades for rentals.

I respectfully disagree. The trade was a unmitigated disaster for the Angels. Grienke left and we compounded the problem by trying to use that money to sign Josh Hamilton.

The void at 2b for all these years with Espinoza & other crap.

Think of it this way if the Angels had Segura & the Mariners did not we would be in 1st place and they would be in 3rd place.

Great post. I would assume it's more the manager? As it was happening before Eppler ever arrived.
