8. Los Angeles Angels
Chase Burns, RHP — Wake Forest
HOMETOWN: Gallatin, TN
HEIGHT: 6-4
WEIGHT: 215
BAT/THROW: R-R

Assuming the Angels once again target fast-moving college performers, Burns legitimately has a chance to make the Angels’ opening-day roster in 2025 the stuff is so damn good. He’s a stuff-over-command pitcher who gets by blowing his arsenal through hitters. This assumes the Angels are on the same path they’ve been the last few years.
With Shohei Ohtani gone, maybe the club looks to target high-ceiling preps once again. Angels brass have been in to see Griffin a ton this spring and he seems to be of considerable interest to the organization.
 
PS this publication has the Pirates taking Wetherholt right after us, so I am saying there is a chance.

Yep, that's a reasonable opinion.  Chase Burns could be another, especially given the weakness at the top of the HS crop.
But I'm splitting hairs here with a distinction between "no chance" and "very small chance".  I think there's at least a small chance one of Wetherholt or Caglianone gets to us at 8 overall.
Condon, Bazzana, and Smith I think there's essentially zero chance, absent a medical issue.  They're all having monster seasons and are erasing the specific concerns teams might have had about them previously (Condon's contact, Bazzana's power, and Smith's command).

Yep!  I couldn't care less about not having Vasgersian (though I think maybe he'll still fill in every now and then?).  I wish Randazzo didn't have to leave for the Friday Apple TV+ games, but I like him more than anyone we've had in many, many years.

My assumption is he hasn’t sued MLB because he’s still hoping to get a job in MLB.  Ultimately he may sue them.

Fangraphs has their relief pitchers with a 3.81 ERA for 2023 and that was 12th in MLB.
Also, I never said the Angels bullpen was good or even better than the Rays.  My point was simply that the Rays bullpen has been awful this year--which is true.

It’s an identity crisis, and it’s an Angel flaw. Same thing Matt Thais went through after being drafted. They draft a pure hitter and on base machine, and rather than understanding and fostering what they have, they plant the ideas in their head about being a power hitting 1B.
 It just isn’t who he is, and what you end up with is a broken hitter with no power rather than what you drafted in the first place. Sane thing happened with Cron, Thaiss and Ward. As soon as they took their careers into their own hands and stopped trying to change, their careers improved. 
 
Schanuel needs to go back to basics like last year and forget this concept of turning on the ball with authority. Just keep slapping it to all fields and milking your way on base. Don’t be who the Angels wish you were and be yourself. If they don’t like it, then it’s their fault, they shouldn’t have drafted you. 

Everyone knew Ippei was being shady but Ohtani didn’t realize the money leaving his account for 2.5 years.
