I appreciate the sarcasm.   I don't appreciate the obligatory references to Pearl Harbor and Chinatown when mentioning someone who is Japanese.

Question For Jeff Fletcher:
Why isn't the media speculating about Stanton to the Angels?
Remember I am using the word speculating.
Angels have room under luxury tax.  Many believe it won't take premium prospects if you take all or most of the salary.  Angels want to upgrade their offense including OB% specifically.  Calhoun can play 1B, saving on an upgrade there.  Angels are also natural fit for Gordon.  And the guy wants to be in Southern California.
Eppler has also proven to work silently.
So with all that, NOBODY speculates the Angels make a deal???

I hope that one or more of you (I know @Mark68 reads it for sure! ) enjoyed the series. Every year I learn more and more and I find it therapeutic to go through the machinations of deciphering the financial and market details and sharing what I find.

Latest on Stanton:
Put these things together and. . .
1). He gave list of acceptable places to go to the Marlins and Los Angeles (Dodgers) is on the list.
2). Reports are Dodgers not interested in adding that kind of payroll this year.
3). Aside from the Cardinals and Giants, there are three additional teams lurking and interested.
4). Arte and Angels have a history of working covertly 
4). If Dodgers are a no, makes sense he might want to still be in Los Angeles?

Personally, I think you need to plan for both scenarios. Win now, but also maintain enough high ceiling OF depth that you can attempt to compete post Trout. 
If Trout stays, he'll have an army of prospects to back him up and make winning a long term endeavor. If he goes, it'll be nice to have Adell and Marsh ready to step in.
The biggeat thing the Angels can do to win right now is to acquire a similar aged game changer to couple with Trout. Someone that shows we'll do whatever it takes. 
Flat out, the Angels need to acquire Giancarlo Stanton.

Any Stanton/Gordon deal that doesn’t involve giving up Adell and Barria is a total win in my eyes.

I would willingly overpay for Stanton and Gordon. Like assuming both their contracts, plus Calhoun, Jahmai Jones, Matt Thaiss, Chris Rodriguez and Jesus Castillo. 
Yes, we'd be cash strapped for the next 4 years, and yes, it would take two more years after this just to get our farm back where it needs to be....
But Gordon, Trout, Stanton, Upton, LoMo.....
That's a lot of runs.

Get stanton, move kole to 3B.

I think a major issue Miami has to deal with is their new stadium and their fan base's reaction to another massive tear-down.
By acquiring a MLB player back in the deal it not only helps with the trade in terms of dollars it gives them a quality player that can help the team compete, at least to start the year. At the trade deadline they can simply flip someone like Panik or Calhoun in trade and acquire additional prospects or whatever they need.
A mix of MLB replacements and prospects is probably what the Marlins are looking for in any deal. Particularly if they can sell it well to their fan base:
Jeter: "Look we acquired a great player in Kole Calhoun, a former #1 prospect in Kaleb Cowart, and a top prospect in Chris Rodriguez!!!!"
I'm being a little facetious but part of what the Marlins front office needs is a "win" when they deal Stanton, IMHO.
