This silver lining stuff, I don't get it.  Angels just lost the best player in MLB for a couple months.  There is no silver lining, none, anywhere.

Dodgers announcers acted like they were watching UFOs land.
Who knew you could throw out the slowest, oldest player in the bigs, even standing in left field?

Ahmed could have made a ham sandwich after catching the ball and still threw him out

Not new, returning from the inactive list after a couple years off.  Just got so frustrated with the Angels struggle, sometimes finding myself rooting for a loss in hopes it would force the FO to deal with Pujols.  Of course there is a lot more to the mediocrity the Angels have suffered the past decade, but to me Pujols seemed like the tip of the mediocrity spear.  For the first time in a couple years I was ROOTING for the Angels to pull one out today, enter the Thank-God-He's-Gone era with some spark and energy.  Arigato Ohtani.  That the albertross has landed with the hated Dogs seems like divine intervention.

Was listening to sox broadcast, even with their homeritis preferable to 3hrs of goober.  They were snickering about the Trout doink when the audio suddenly went silent as Ohtani blast sailed into RF.  Arigato Ohtanisan.  Winning streak underway!

Since you asked, this poster comes from the basket of deplorables who cling to their guns or religion, and from those who served this country and fought for the freedom to trash the flag/anthem and the freedom to criticize those who trash the flag/anthem.

There it is, the Pujols catch22.  The team has purposely avoided keeping anyone (Trumbo, Cron, etc) or acquiring anyone who could potentially replace him in the lineup.  Hence the worn out defense that as bad as he is, there is no one to replace him.   I believe Scioscia is the driver, perhaps in tandem with Moreno.  Regardless it's time to move on from the bad feet, bad knee, bad player, bad contract that is Pujols.

This.   The Pujols catch22.  Don't get anyone better because he's there.  Play him because no one is better.  Rinse.  Repeat.  While we're entertained by the AW aristocracy arguing he must play because there is no one better.

but they'll never go out and get someone better because he's there.  And they'll never completely take away at bats from AP and hand them over to an unproven player.

Screw the NFL.  Rather watch Pujols ground out to 3rd, then shuffle down the first base line.

And the Pujols problem is a huge issue. Even being optimistic about his production makes him a slightly below average bat in the line up.  Realistically, he’s going to be much worse, especially as the next few seasons progress into late summer.  Perfect for potentially competeing for divisions or wild card berths.  Not only that, but he severely hampers the teams flexibility at 1B and DH.  Two traditionally easier places to get production.  It’s a complete disaster.  Potentially he’s taking AB’s from one of the teams best hitters regularly.  The team needs to move on.  They should have dealt with it this season.  Now they have to deal with this shit all of next year at least.

Aaron, words can’t describe the emotions that I’ve been feeling the past week and a half,” Trout wrote in the emotional message. “You were more than just my brother-in-law… you were my best friend. You made such an impact on my life since the day I first met you. You were an amazing person inside & out that showed us all how to live life to the fullest. Seeing and hearing about your impact on other people are all things that made me a better person every single day.
The things we have done together like hunting trips, family vacations, golfing, fishing, and all the fun times we had together I will cherish forever… you brought so much happiness and joy to my life every time I was with you. You will always be remembered for your crazy dance moves and your big smile and how much you cared for people and our family. You were always the life of the party and you were always making people laugh. You were a great kid and it kills me to know that you are gone…
I can’t thank you enough for what you have meant to me over these last 11 years. I know you will be watching over me now that you are gone, I promise to take care of your sister and watch over your whole family. Heaven got a great one and I know I will see you again someday… I love you bro!!!!

70runner got a reaction from GrittyVeterans in Is Scioscia gone after this season?
Angels have been a disappointingly average team for too long.  Simpler to adjust the guidance/direction than replace the roster.  Some things are given, Trout is the best, Simmons is a stud, Pujols is a fixture (literally), Upton/Calhoun have disappointed but showing positive signs, and the really unfortunate TJ epidemic.
Rather than the same old gang struggling to stay above 500 in 2019, consider some alternatives.  Mix in some kids and/or young FAs, try new lineup/personnel strategies, trade to get more athletic, perhaps even find an antidote for the TJ bug.  Scioscia has tried some adjustments, but it seems time for a change in leadership.  Mr Eppler is approaching his third of four years and an accurate assessment of his reign should include his own manager selection.  And, proposed golden rule #1 for a new administration (if there is one), never ever leave Pujols as lead "runner" late in a tight game.

I'll continue to argue that adding these hitters or those hitters to a lineup around a fixture in the MOTO that can't run and struggles to hit his weight will not produce the intended results.
