It still would not surprise me if they finish the year with a winning record.
But we are seeing just how far they still have to go to compete with the big boys, and it kind of sucks.

This would be a very clutch spot for a hit.
-
Ump literally stole a run from the Angels.

Absolute bullshit call.

Dogshit at bat by Ohtani.
He was going to swing at that third pitch no matter what.

Obviously, I don't want to lose Shohei, but I just admit, I'm intrigued by the plan with DH if Shohei leaves. Rotating Rendon, Trout, Adell and That's through that spot could keep them healthy and offer more AB's for Thaiss.
I don't want to lose Shohei... but I don't want the Angels to pay him the ungodly amount it will take to keep him. Especially after seeing Neto, Moniak, O'Hoppe, etc.
I would enjoy seeing what prospects Minasian could get for Shohei.

The only hitters going well on this team currently are Drury, Thaiss, and Urshela. Yikes
On one hand, that is frustrating as hell.
On the other hand, the team is disappointing and still two games over .500. Imagine if Trout, Ohtani, and Rendon heat up.

Not even close with homers. They ARE in the Top 5 in the AL in walks, though.
Not surprisingly, Oakland is dead last by far in both categories - not just in the AL, but all of MLB.

Damn this team gives up a bunch f Home runs. They must be leading or almost leading the league in Home runs and ealks given up.
I am guessing the Angels are done scoring and the Sox will post a few more.

Trout and Ohtani competing to see who can leave the most men on.
I don't know the actual number of LOB, but coming into this game, Shohei was hitting .340 with RISP.
Trout was hitting .200.

So far Rendon has added to the scoring as much as Trout and Ohtani.
He is very close to returning. We know this because... well, because they keep telling us.

I'm still hung up on Ward. Dude has been garbage for a while.
At least he makes up for it in the field.
Wait...

a loss today and we’re potentially in 4th placeThey got four automatic wins against Oakland this past week. That helped. (Their next 8 games after today are against the Yankees, Rangers, Padres.)

He has already decided to sign with Seattle next season. He is lowering his trade value so that the Angels don't receive any good prospects at this year's deadline. He is thinking ahead.
(Note: I do not actually believe this, but it would be pretty deviously awesome if it were true.)
