We read it, but we don't have to agree with it.
Honestly, it's stupid to have guys penciled in for scheduled off-days.
Last Sunday I was at my parents' house for Mother's Day, making brunch, watching the early game. My mom said "Wait, Trout isn't playing? I didn't realize baseball players get days off when they aren't hurt." I tried to explain the logic.
Now he's getting his second game off in six days. Maybe the Angels will make the postseason this year and Trout will be healthy and we can say "Wow, I guess giving him all those days off was a good idea." That would be cool.

Trout has to be well rested for October.
And his fishing trips.

If we're talking about who would be a better player in 2023, I think it's Willie Mays.
If you took 1954 Mays and 1927 Ruth and transported them both to 2023, I think you are correct.
But if each player had been born in 1999 and was just entering his prime today, who knows?
-
Babe Ruth. A mythical figure.
Also, this might be cheating, but if you choose Ruth in 1927, you also get to see Gehrig, when the two of them combined for more than 24 bWAR.

you can create narratives about sometimes players come through and sometimes they don’t.
Classic.

Two guys get on with 0 outs for Trout and Ohtani, they both fail to get the runners over and in.
I get that they hit the HRs earlier, but we’d be all over the bottom of the lineup if they failed to deliver in that spot.
Sometimes players come through and sometimes they don't.
You can accept that, or you can create narratives about distractions or not trusting their teammates.

That was encouraging.

On one hand that's really discouraging. On the other hand, they still have a winning record; what happens if they improve their defense?

What does this mean: "I’ve been getting punched a lot lately"?
I honestly don't know.

TBH, for Ohtani and it being a contract year...he's hasn't been that great as a 2 way player. Offensively he's mediocre.
His OPS+ is 137

Look at the bright side...
Also, it's still Sunday morning. I have most of the day ahead of me. This is way better than the Sunday afternoon rollovers to which I have become accustomed.

It had to happen at this point, but part of me was worried Minasian wouldn't do it.

Despite their record, I feel being an Angel fan is no better this year than being an A's, White Sox, or Royals fan.
Anything is better than being an A's fan.

Now who could have seen that coming?

Great job, Renfroe.
Disappointing job, Detmers.
I have found myself saying both of those things more than I expected to this season.
-
I thought this would be a better Angels team than we have seen for several years and the division would be worse than we have seen for several years. I still think both of those things.
There have been some really disappointing games and some bad luck. But there is plenty of season left and both of those things can improve. I have not yet given up.
-
I'm starting to consider the possibility that Ohtani might not re-sign.
-
Roger Lodge would be embarrassed by how forced that segment was.
-
Great win. Fuck the Astros.
-
Like I've been saying all season, thank God for Drury and Thaiss.

It's been 11 years since the last perfecto, also by a Seattle pitcher (Hernandez)
I remember that well. Tampa didn't have a single baserunner that game... and then they came to Anaheim and swept four games. Including coming back from an 8-0 deficit the night the Angels honored the tenth anniversary of the '02 team.

If Bally's truly has those kind of powers, I can think of a better way they could use them.
