John Stellman reacted to Puget Sound Angel in 70's Celebration
Why are the Angels celebrating the 70's this weekend?
It was mostly the worst decade in team history (except for '79)
The 70's were also the cultural dead zone of mankind.
Still those throwback unis the Angels wore tonight are Sweeeet!

John Stellman reacted to HaloCory22 in Mark Teixeira wants to return to Anaheim
http://dystnow.com/2015/10/22/sources-mark-teixeira-gives-yankees-the-ok-to-trade-him/
Teixeira also told the Yankees that he has a desired destination; the Los Angeles Angels. If Teixeira did end up going back to the Angels he would be playing under GM Billy Eppler.
This should be a fun thread. Have at it.

Too much moola for Arte to shell out.

John Stellman reacted to Chuck in What are you looking forward to seeing in the 2nd half of the season?
Besides the Angels winning ball games, here's mine:
Mike Trout (duh). But to expand on that, I'd love to see him post a .1000 OPS with a 30/30 season. I think this is well within his grasp if he keeps this up on the base paths. (15 SB's) Shoemaker, Skaggs & Santiago have a great second half (especially if we're not going to trade Santiago). Trade Escobar for a good pitching or outfield prospect. Huston Street reels off a bunch of save opportunities, lowers his ERA, boosts his trade value. Acquire a young active or close prospect left fielder at or before the deadline. Watch Bandy and hope he continues to be productive at the plate and stellar behind the dish. Nate Smith gets promoted and holds his own in his first taste of the big leagues. Lincecum pitch well over the next few starts, boosting his trade value for the deadline or in August. Jered Weaver finish his career with a bang, delivering a bunch of quality starts. Albert Pujols finishes with a respectable slash line and hit 25+ HR, 100 RBI. Bedrosian grabs the closer job by the horns and doesn't let go. We find a gem on the current roster or farm system to be our setup man. C.J. Cron & Garrett Richards come back sooner than expected and finish off the season strong. (reloads pipe, takes more puffs) Andrelton Simmons continues to hit better while wooing his critics with his incredible defense. Our draft class and some key prospects have a great end to the season, boosting their prospect value.

John Stellman reacted to Angelsjunky in Orem Owlz Hitting
Is ridonkulous. In 1059 plate appearances, the team is hitting .323/.396/.477. I know it is the Pioneer League, but still.
The best known prospects are first rounder Matt Thaiss, now promoted, and last year's second rounder Jahmai Jones, who at 18 is hitting .312/.377/.431. But almost everyone is hitting well. Scotty, Dave, Chuck etc, any of these guys legit prospects? Lund, Zimmerman, Montgomery?

John Stellman reacted to Ace-Of-Diamonds in Heaney's earnings
How much does he make next year while on the DL?
Heaney makes $515,000 this year. He only has a contract for 2016. Luckily for him he signed away 10% of future earnings for an upfront $3.34M. His getting Tommy John surgery makes the Fantex deal seem like a good move on his part.

John Stellman got a reaction from Angels#1Fan in When did you become an Angels fan? Were you an Angels fan before, during or after the 2002 season?
I hate to admit it, but I was a Los Angeles Angel PCL fan back in l950's when they called Wrigley Field their home. Was a short time Dodger fan when they invaded LA. Became a full time Angel in the late '60's and the rest is history

John Stellman got a reaction from Angel Oracle in 7th Heaven
The Angels have to be excited about the American League's victory in the All Star Game. That guarantees them home field advantage in the World Series!
-
John Stellman reacted to Chuck in More Mike Trout awesomeness!
per Baseball Reference, Mike Trout is the 7th player since 1913 to hit .300/.400/.500 pre-All Star Break, for his career, thru age 24 (min. 1000 PA's).

John Stellman reacted to Robrock30 in Kevin Jepsen is no longer in line for Saves
Molitor said he would hold off on using Jepsen, who's been scored on in five of his last 11 appearances, as the closer in the "short term."
Jepsen is 2-5 with a 6.17 ERA in 25 games. Molitor said Kintzler and left-hander Fernando Abad could see time in the ninth inning.

John Stellman got a reaction from ELEVEN in Steve Klauke vs. Terry Smith
There are plenty of holes in the entire Angel broadcast team. Terry gives you the score once every 27 innings. Victor never offers an insightful comment. Gube does a lot of laughing. Langston is the only one who offers meaningful commets. I'm sure they could find a spot for Steve Klauke.

John Stellman reacted to jsnpritchett in Nate Smith roughed up in the Futures Game
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2651307-mlb-futures-game-2016-live-score-analysis-and-top-prospect-grades
"Nate Smith (1.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K)
One of the few above-average prospects in a thin Los Angeles Angels system, Nate Smith showed the good command and four-pitch that has made him a safe bet to reach his ceiling as a No. 4 starter-type.
His changeup stood out as a plus offering and he fooled Yoan Moncada with two in a row to strike him out after failing behind 2-1. However, he simply doesn't have plus stuff overall and if he's not hitting his spots he's in trouble as we saw in this outing.
Grade: F"

John Stellman reacted to Glen in Andrelton Simmons
...would be a great late-innings defensive specialist on a playoff team, or perhaps even a worthwhile starter on a team with an otherwise potent offense.

John Stellman reacted to JoJo26 in Why Escobar Might be Traded
A dozen errors officially...but I could count on a few more
His pussy attempt at the grounder Sunday - Someone put up a Roger Dorn card on the game thread. That was perfect.
His showboating on the base paths ("I'm safe" signal)
His silly ass haircut....what you? 16 dude?
His antics after making an out (banging his helmet...hissy fit....you're a pro)
His lack of running a full speed to first. This is not a recent occurrence.
He seems to be not a popular fella on the team - as I see him at games or on the boob tube sitting by himself.
His anti-Eckstein / Figgy leadoff responsibility as leadoff.....don't just Mickey Hatcher hack at pitch one....Saturday - he did that twice - his first two ABs. Take a pitch dude.
And Finally - his very unprofessional behavior Sunday with his dirt writing/cussing/yelling at the 3rd base or HP ump...plus his Curse Quotes after the game.
Dude makes this guy look like a model citizen....

John Stellman reacted to ScottT in Angels franchise approaching .500 again
Two years ago today the Angels reached .500 as a franchise after being below for 8,545 games and 19,439 days.
They are now only 12 games above. Seems likely that they'll be back below at season's end.

John Stellman reacted to Troll Daddy in Who gets sent down?
Soto is nearly ready to come back from the DL.
Perez or Bandy will likely be optioned to AAA. I'm hoping Bandy stays or does it even matter at this point? I think it does matter.
