I think there’s no chance he’s already decided he’s not coming back. 
 
I’m not saying he is coming back. I’m saying he doesn’t know. It may seem crazy to us mere mortals to not have already thought all this through, but I truly believe that Ohtani is freakish enough to compartmentalize all this so it’s not in his mind during the season. 
 
Beaides that, the rehab and whatever surgery he has will have an impact on what he does. 

Also, he has/had a fractured tibia.

Regardless of the reason for the setback. Bottom line another setback, I mean I don't care if he broke his toe "running" on the treadmill. I said in another thread that there would be a setback, it was so predictable.
And BTW how do you run on a treadmill with a fractured tibia? And how does that go undiagnosed?

Why shut down Ohtani at 48?  Why shut him down at all?  It’s his decision.  

The reason I disregarded it is because it’s all stuff that happened 10 years ago involving a bunch of people who no longer work for the Angels. 
 
I think it’s been well chronicled that the Angels have skimped on things besides big league payroll at times during Arte’s tenure. So unless it’s something current or involving current employees, it doesn’t seem newsworthy. 

Ben Verlander hammered the Angels yesterday for causing this.
Today he got more information and posted an "emergency podcast".  Good info.  Didn't offer any sort of apology for the crap he said about the organization, though.  Even though the info means they aren't to blame.

There are some people on Twitter who can't get that through their brains.

We live in a time where everyone wants to place blame for something like injuries.  It’s pathetic. 

Its been less an issue of how many players vs which players, both when it comes to the dollars on the DL and the hit to performance.  When you lose two of the top 10-15 highest paid players in MLB to injury its going to skew the data a bit.
Also, not sure how better training would impact a hamate bone break or batting a ball of someone's leg.  Sometimes shit happens.  They don't seem to have an excessive number of hammy pulls or muscle strains, stuff where you could more easily make a connection to poor training/conditioning.

For players with 200 PA...
Moniak has the 6th worst strikeout rate and 5th worst walk rate in MLB.
That's the worst bb/k rate and it's not close.

I don't care that Blum can come off as negative, he's just not a very compelling writer, rarely shines light on anything of any real value and always seems to take the low road.
I know everyone hates Rendon now, but Blum's coverage of his "injuries" has been completely antagonistic from day one.  Clearly Rendon doesn't like dealing with the media, but constantly commenting on "how" he says "no comment" just comes off as catty/bitchy BS..  I laugh to myself thinking about how he would have dealt with someone like Albert Belle, or rather, how Belle would have handled Blum.  Of course Blum would have likely pressed charges and then written a book about his trauma dealing with Belle.  Whatever, IMO Blum's bitchy style has likely made it harder for him to get info -- and while I'm sure he thinks that makes him a hero, we the reader ultimately get less information about the team and more information about how he's being treated poorly, I couldn't fucking care less.
Some of you hate the guy because he's "negative"..  Some of you like him because you think his antagonistic BS is "telling it like it is".  Blum fans/haters are as tribal as everything else in society is these days...  It all bores the shit out of me.

I would give Cabbage a good look at this point….season is done, why play Renfroe and Grichuk every day? Neither is likely back, although I guess Grichuk could be a 4th OF’er type….At least platoon Cabbage in LF or RF…

Trout has a serious case of Rendonitis, likely a very bad case of it.  There seems to be no known cure. Luckily for Trout, it’s just in time for him to watch his eagles even the preseason. Regardless, winning yes the act of winning eludes Trout. It always will. Some guys are somehow born with that intangible quality and while he was born with extraordinary physical attributes, winning is just not part of his makeup.
This organization is so effed.
