  1. The "kids," in particular, pitched very well (Skaggs, Shoemaker, and Santiago) and the bullpen was fantastic. The pitching really tightened up while the offense slowed a bit.
  2. I was surprised it wasn't mentioned here so I had to give major kudos to Aybar's heads-up play! I watched it at least 6 times on the MLB site. Great move! Who knows what would have happened if we don't get that run?
  3. I never liked the Yanks because they won "too much" and the Mets won too little when I first started watching baseball in 1977. Subsequently, I became a Twins fan because I loved the way Rod Carew hit. When he was traded to the Angels in '79, I became an Angels' fan. When I was in the Army and in Korea, I bought blue shoes and had the Angels' A inscribed on it. I loved those shoes. Note: Is it possible to add the Angels' A to the menu bar (icons when you're writing a message)?
  4. I thought someone would create a report card on our players. I was looking forward to it.
  5. I'd still like a starter too. The offense will eventually fade a bit.
  6. I wonder how many white Corvettes Trout already has?
  7. Interesting article on the dearth of the screwball and the hopes for its resurgence. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/13/magazine/the-mystery-of-the-vanishing-screwball.html
  8. I would like a "more established" starter if we can get one for not too much. Besides the valid points that Skaggs and Richards may run out of steam, we have Santiago and Shoemaker as 5 and 6 and a questionable Wilson. At this point, I think that's a priority over the pen. It's not so much about catching Oakland as it is making the team stronger if and when we see them in the playoffs. Despite their record, I still think we're better.
  9. Good article on managerial communication. http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/81764996/robin-ventura-big-boy-pants-chicago-white-sox-manager-speeches?partnerId=ed-8374439-658620023#!6tXno
  10. Like I said, these will be the same people bagging on Trout in a few years. Some people want excellence all the time and that's not realistic.
  11. Is Price still worth getting? A. He hasn't pitched that well. B. Shouldn't we be more concerned with relief?
  12. I'd keep Cron. I think Green, Cowgill, Kohn, and pretty much anyone from AAA (not Bedrock, Alvarez) can go away. As long as it's not Green and Lindsay in the same deal.
  13. Does anyone know Frieri's ERA when he's not closing?
  14. MLB.com advertises 20,000 free vouchers when someone throws a no-hitter. has anyone ever received one? I tried last time at 3 (when the contest starts) and got locked out. When I finally got on, I got the message all the vouchers were given out. I tried today and couldn't get on and then 4 minutes after got the same "all out " message. Do you guys think this is a scam?
  15. I'd like to win two in a row vs. the A's first before saying that we have some new-found confidence.
  16. Sorry. I thought this was a prediction thread.
  17. I think we win tonight and lose the other two. However, Richards needs to be around the strike zone or he may walk 6 tonight.
  18. I think we win tonight and lose the next two, probably by one or two runs as usual.
  19. Normally, I won't be the sourpuss, but letting Weaver pitch was a horrible idea despite the result. I could imagine this board blowing up if Weav would have given up another hit. I also think he was very lucky to get that strike call. I'm glad we won, as we normally don't get the breaks, but Weav should not have been in that position.
