Pretty easy to solve - threaten to make cuts to education then during the next election cycle just ramp up the "for the children" ads and get the voters to raise taxes on the people already paying 95%+ of the income taxes to the state.  After all, they need to pay their fair share.

I'd bet some of the recent trend in illegal immigration was due to the mortgage crisis.  When the economy tanked a lot less money was getting sent back to Mexico which in recent years was their largest source of foreign income.  The wall is ridiculous but something needs to be done.  Under Reagan 3M illegals were given amnesty and that was supposed to be the end of it.  30+ years later here we are looking at another 11M+ in the country illegally while the feds have failed to secure the border.

As ridiculous as it is I'd say it's less ridiculous than the federal government failing to secure the border which saddles border states with added costs then the feds step in when some of those states try to do something about it.  The hundreds of billions of tax dollars paid for illegal immigrants aside the security risk in this day and age is beyond worrisome.

and lawmakers want to change that:

Per the article: " The average cost of a one day visit to the beach was $22, not including parking or food, according to the study. And an increase of only $15, researchers found, could force many families to skip the trip altogether"
If $37 and the cost of sandwiches/food you bring with you is too much then you've got bigger things to worry about than the cost of a trip to the beach.  I grew up in a beach city and I realize that's a lot different than people who are ~10 or more miles inland some of which have never seen the ocean but we used to take the bus before we had cars to get around and that's still an option.  Just seems to me in the grand scheme of things this should be way down on the priority list of where time/energy of our elected officials goes.

GB/Dallas was a great game. Can't believe Rodgers held on to the ball on that last sack. I never mind seeing Dallas lose but their future looks bright and nothing that happened today should lead to speculation about who their starting QB is next year.

Potato Potatoh.  If the US cuts what they send to fund the wall or additional border security it's a net 0 impact to the current budget.  I'm as fiscally conservative as they get but let's be honest here - 15-20 billion is a drop in the bucket compared to the waste that's been going on for decades, see pork barrel spending and pet projects added to anything done in Washington.  It's also a drop in the bucket compared to the costs associated with illegal immigration.  Both sides are wasteful which obviously doesn't make it right but we just saw the national debt increase by almost 8 trillion under the previous administration.  15-20B isn't the straw that breaks the camels back.  Personally I'd like to see a balanced budget but that will never happen until it's too late.

It's really quite interesting as the Mexican president has a very low approval rating while voters there think he'll get strong armed by Trump making for what should be an entertaining back and forth.  I'm guessing him canceling the meeting just upped his approval rating.  Mexico is scared because their biggest source of foreign income is remittances from citizens abroad and on a per person basis they receive more than any other country in the world while most of that comes from the US.  Frankly I think the whole relationship has been more of a give/take than it should be.

Of course it would but good luck getting any politician or either side to seriously agree to that then actually push it through.
As far as it not solving problems I disagree.  There are stories of people who have been deported multiple times then they end up back here in jail when they get popped for something else.  Years ago I found out that someone I knew had paid to have someone brought in by a Coyotaje and it was as simple as placing a phone call and paying a relatively small amount of cash.  Mexico has no problem pushing kids from Central and South America to the US border knowing they will become the US' problem and not theirs.  There's something terribly wrong with all of that and something needs to be done.

The wall is a stupid idea but the feds actually doing their job and securing the border isn't.  As I said before border states get saddled with the costs associated with illegal immigration then if they try to do anything about it the feds have stepped in to tell them they can't.  I look forward to seeing Trump butt heads with sanctuary cities and in CA Brown has already started firing back.
MT I don't disagree but making the US less appealing would mean massive changes to a bloated federal government and more fed vs state fighting.  The wall or at least stronger border patrol is easier to implement in the short term.

I don't blame Weaver if he accepts because it's about him playing a game he still enjoys that he's been playing most of his life and this opportunity is close to home.  Professional athletes have a small career in the grand scheme of things when you consider that even the best who stay healthy are done before they're 40 for the most part.  In his case that window is likely even smaller as a player and it can be hard on anyone to walk away when they've still hopefully got another 40+ years of living to do.

You can use that to make some creepy dolls:

Yesterday I went to home depot to get some clear window/door sealant and tried closing up some of the cracks that are leaking around the garage and also along the bottom of the doors to the laundry room and garage.  Against the directions and my better judgment I applied it knowing rain was coming and it all washed away.  Using towels and a mat I've reduced the leakage into the laundry room but I realized when looking at that door I now need to replace it as the bottom is soaked and swelling.  Just another project to add to the list and once everything dries Wednesday I'll re-apply the sealant.
As far as this rain goes maybe it's because I've been at work or asleep during most of the previous rain but I don't recall seeing this much in a single day around here in a long time.  We got flash flood warnings for our area when they're generally for LA, the IE and further inland in OC.
