83% of those polled recently were in favor of keeping the FCC's net neutrality rules yet the FCC went ahead and just **** all over consumers.  Between this and the tax plan it's amazing how evident it is that they just don't give a crap about the majority of voters.

The thing that sucks about any tax plan is the fact that they're always geared towards bringing in more revenue whether it's due to tax hikes or the failed trickle down theory.  The reality is politicians need to address deficit spending, SS/Medicare/defense and the national debt.  Even if the government seized the assets of the top 1% or taxed the hell out of the wealthiest people in this country that's not going to fix what 4+ decades of deficit spending have saddled future generations with.  Sooner or later they'll have no choice but to make draconian cuts and it's laughable that we're going broke paying ourselves.

An IT guy at work was talking about how they found out some of the comments in favor of repealing were traced back to stolen SSN's.

In another thread someone said the supposed asking price for Hernandez was Skaggs + a prospect.  If that's the price then to me that's a no brainer especially with the addition of Ohtani who gives you the flexibility to move a pitcher.  If signing a 3B takes the Angels out of the Donaldson running next year I'm okay with that considering he'll be a 33 year old FA and you're going to be paying him for his best years with another club.  I don't want the Angels to overpay for Moustakas or anyone else this year but if the price is right you make that signing because maybe having a shot at Machado next year shouldn't have the Angels trotting out a poor option at 3B.  Add a few bullpen pieces and maybe a starter who is a #3-5 type who won't cost a lot, perhaps a guy who had a down year in 2017 and maybe you get a rebound out of him.

If the Angels can add a legit club controlled 2B entering the prime of his career for something like Skaggs and a prospect I'm for it.  I know you guys follow the farm way more than me but I read in one thread that the Angels don't have a top 100 prospect and see people saying they won't part with certain prospects for a ML proven every day player.  Obviously you don't trade just for the sake of making a trade but a guy with a .370 OBP filling a need at 2B would be a nice move towards improving the ML roster and getting into the playoffs.  The Angels ranked 21 out of 30 teams in OBP out of the lead off spot  last year and Hernandez's .373 OBP would mean someone on base 30+ times more over the course of a full season.  If you compare Hernandez OBP to what the Angels got just out of 2B last year you're talking about a guy getting on base 60 times more over the course of a full season.

Wow thanks for the update about the HB fire.  That's a little over a mile from my house and while it may not be anything major obviously with those winds embers could get pushed to surrounding neighborhoods.  I called my neighbor just to have her give me an update if she hears anything.  Found an article online that says it's a small vegetation fire and they're evacuating some homeless people in the area which unfortunately leads me to believe that one of them probably started it on accident..
They said this morning on the radio that despite the multiple fires going on that were all 5-10% contained luckily there hadn't been any lives lost.  Hope that trend continues.

I hope they get everything under control and there's as little loss as possible.
BTW, this thread title sounds like a good porn star name.

Over any 30 year period of the S&P 500 annualized returns with dividends reinvested are ~11% and this is even true for 66-96 while returns were flat from 66-81.  Hopefully most regular investors are investing with the long term in mind but statistics tell us that a lot of people invest with their emotions and sell on dips while buying back in higher.  Whenever there's a ridiculous amount of optimism or fear we're bound for a correction but set your plan and stick with it.

They definitely should but the fact remains they help support a lot of red states who are net takers at the federal level.  Like I said I'll be interested to see what kind of fall out there is in CA over this because I can see some of the R's who are still left facing po'd voters but voting them out and putting a D in definitely isn't the answer.  We have a governor who supported the newest gas tax increase saying people could afford it and voters who have been able to raise taxes on people making more.  If we continue on the same path we're going to get to a tipping point where even more businesses and people who make a decent living decide it just isn't worth it to be here.  I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for CA to lower the taxes we pay in state.

I wanted to see what the impact would be to me under four scenarios - current tax laws in current house, current tax laws in new house, senate tax plan current house and senate tax plan new house.  A new house priced at 750K results in a mortgage over 500K so not all of that is deductible while my current mortgage is under the 500K limit.  Basically staying in our current place it's a wash because under the senate plan the SALT deduction goes away but the standard deduction is raised and you're allowed to write off up to 10K in property taxes.  Moving to a new house under the senate plan will result in me paying about 3K a year more in federal taxes.  This is based on the senate plan tax brackets with 7 rates and not plan with 4 where I'd pay even more.  At the end of the day all most of us care about first and foremost is how it hits our wallets so I don't blame people who favor it because it benefits them.  The issue for me beyond that is that in the long run this is supposed to add to the debt so once again neither side wants to address the fact that future generations continue to have a bigger burden placed on them due to short term thinking.

It might be entertaining or interesting watching an egomaniac who's probably borderline (or flat out) psychotic let the power go to his head if we were talking about the guy who runs your local HOA but not when it's the president.  The last few days he's really seemed to go off the rails, even by his standards.

Not sure but they didn't agree to an extension before last Monday's deadline so he's set to become an RFA at season's end.  From the Lakers perspective it made sense not to extend him because they want flexibility to possibly go after 2 big name FA's this next off season.  If they don't need all of that money or they see him as being a piece to keep then they can match any contract he gets.
