Butcher'd reacted to Angel Oracle in Baseball second most popular American sport
Meh, outside of the Rams, I don't care much about the NFL anymore.
My order of preference:
MLB
NHL
College Basketball
NBA
College Baseball
College Football
NFL

Butcher'd got a reaction from Torridd in Who stays and who goes next year?
Iannetta and Calhoun among those who need to stay. Santiago has shown some potential and should be our 5th starter next year. The bullpen is good.

Butcher'd got a reaction from SlappyUtilityMIF in Fire Scioscia?
You can say that but you can't fully absolve Sciscia of blame. Game 1 was winnable, but he made Kole bunt in a huge situation (which he never did in the regular season). Hamilton's fault? Sure. Scioscia's fault for playing him? Yes. CJ Wilson shouldn't have been pitching tonight

Butcher'd got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Who is most to blame?
50%-Scioscia
50%-offense
0%-Dipoto...The pitching staff got bit by the injury bug. Not his fault.

Butcher'd got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Flatline
In terms of heartbreak, this isn't close to 08 or 05 for me. Hell, even 09 was more heartbreaking despite making it to the ALCS
In terms of actual on field play...this is the worst the Angels have ever played in the playoffs IMO

Butcher'd reacted to Angels in Who stays and who goes next year?
Yeah, right. Dipoto is too statistically savvy to be wanting something like that.
Dipoto has no authority to tell and/or force Scioscia who to play. The manager makes that call. Unless Scioscia is a puppet he is not taking orders from anyone regarding things like that. Playing Hamilton and Wilson was strictly his call.

Butcher'd reacted to SoCALkid in Who is most to blame?
Plus Dipoto (had everybody stayed healthy) would have put together one of the best playoff rotations. Weaver and Shoe both looked dominant.

Butcher'd got a reaction from The Ghost of Bob Starr in CJ Wilson shouldn't have been pitching to begin with
This could be the series that costs Mike Scioscia his job finally. There have been some inexcusable decisions made by him

Not sure if I understand not letting Pestano have another batter or two there. But whatever

Butcher'd reacted to nate in Hamilton starting tomorrow
Against Shields, a pitcher he is like 3-25 against.
Have at it Scioscia apologists.
Someone forgot to tell Scioscia that this is the playoffs, not high paid player appreciation day.

Butcher'd reacted to Ray McKigney in Rank These Rock Bands #2
My friends and I were arguing last night, over some wine spritzers, which of these three is the best. It's such a hard decision. I still don't know which one I like the best because they're all so damn awesome!
Creed vs. Nickelback vs.Train

Butcher'd reacted to Chimi in UPDATED: Sosh now 10-22 postseason record after 2002
If winning the division is good enough for you, then he's doing a great job.
But there comes a point when you need to think, can this guy get us over the hump? Now I'm not on the fire Scioscia bandwagon. But it's becoming evident he doesn't have his teams ready to play once the postseason gets here. And like I've said before, it's not a personnel problem. It's not the players on the field who just happen to suck when the postseason starts. Because the teams have all been different over the past 10 years with different pitching staffs, different position players, but the same result.
I had a bad feeling once the Angels clinched the division Scioscia was going to allow them to go into cruise mode and just take a break until the postseason. Why? Because it's happened so many times in the past. And it's happening again now. Since clinching the division, the Angels are 3-9. But at least they are well rested, right?

Butcher'd got a reaction from Angel Oracle in If we lose this series; 8 out of the last 9 years...
We've either missed the playoffs or gotten bounced first round.
Making fun of the A's is awesome but our manager can't get his teams past the first round very often either...let's not kid ourselves.
-
Butcher'd got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Scioscia playing Hamilton is inexcusable
So why are we back to bunting and giving long leashes (Hamilton and Wilson) in the postseason? That's my point, Strad. He's been doing this crap in the playoffs for too many years.
It's obviously not all on Sosh, the last 10 (!) years are just alarming in my opinion. A decade is a long time

Butcher'd got a reaction from Angel Oracle in UPDATED: Sosh now 10-22 postseason record after 2002
It's really bad. Moreno and Dipoto need to consider a change. 12 years of failure is a long time to still have the same manager at the helm.

Butcher'd got a reaction from Angel Oracle in **** this
Swept by the Royals (probably) first round after missing the playoffs 4 straight years. That is not a good 5 years no matter how you spin it. Scioscia is not some kind of sacred manager that can't be touched. At this point they need to legitimately evaluate some possible alternatives. I mean it's not like this team makes the playoffs every year. They got in this year which was awesome, but this kind of failure in the playoffs is something we've seen way too much since 2002. It's not all his fault obviously, I just think it'd be ludicrous to not reevaluate his job. 2 postseason series wins in 12 years is bordering on pathetic.

Butcher'd got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Defiant Ignorance
I wish I could say I thought the same. But Shields vs. Wilson is so ugly I just don't think we're getting past that game. If we do though, anything can happen...no doubt

Butcher'd reacted to HaloMagic in Ebola "out of control" in West Africa/Texas Maybe Cleveland?
I'm with Don. This panic is completely overblown. This disease doesn't worry me at all. In almost a year this pandemic has killed 4,000 in countries with populations that total over 44 million (that's if we don't include Nigeria). These are literally some of the world's worst countries when out comes to health care infrastructure and hygiene routines. And still in a year this big bad virus has killed 0.00009% of the population. In the worst countries.
You can board up your doors and windows. Don't mind me when I call you crazy.

But even then you're very selective about what blame he deserves. And it's not just the 2014 season many of us are talking about. There are many things over his tenure that are worthy of criticism at one time or another.
I feel like you're trying to appease people from both camps by acknowledging his faults, then arguing with those same people about why they are wrong. All of which makes no sense to me.

Butcher'd reacted to joeywings in **** this
Well, he's on the only common denominator in those 10 years outside of Moreno. Hell, we even changed team's name .
He's going to manage worse next year if we get in the playoffs again. MORE PANIC AND PRESSURE ON HIS PART while pinning his hope on a has been.

Butcher'd reacted to Hollyw00d in Scioscia teams lose in the playoffs in the most bizarre ways
I'm ready for a change. What's the point of kicking ass in the regular season, just to go out and look like a bunch of punks on national TV in October?
scioscia is like mauch, a panic artist. And the team takes on the same attitude, playing scared, making dumb mistakes and decisions. Being asked to do things they aren't used to and shouldn't be, getting out managed by Ned freaking Yost. When the stage gets big, this team comes up small.
yeah the offense didn't hit. Why is that? Their approach completely changed, no patience, no working the count. Trying to win the game with every swing. Running into needless outs, and of course the usual awful luck that follows this organization around.
watching this team in the playoffs is tiring. Its not enjoyable, there's not a whole lot of fun, and it usually ends in some agonizing fashion. I'm ready for a new direction. No more tipping caps, no more non-answers in press conferences, no more lying down and taking our place as that other LA team.
