Overall, that 1st round pick will be a good get.  But looking at the stats.
Jake Muzzin.  2 years left.  $4 million per.  He's a 40 point scorer.  But this season on pace for something around 30.  Also 2 seasons ago, only had 28 points.  He's also 29, so a bit old in hockey.  
What the Kings got is the 1st rounder.  And this looks to be an extremely deep draft.  They also receive Carl Grundstrom.  21 year old, 2nd rounder, 57th overall.  29 points in 42 games.  And Sean Durzi.  20 year old, 2nd rounder.  OHL stats 49 points in 40 games 2 years ago.  And 28 points in 26 games so far this year.  Not bad at all for a Dman.  
Overall.  I think the Kings did well.  I wish the Ducks would make these kinds of trades.  

I imagine by the draft the team will look much different as will their draft pick inventory.

With a late 1st alot of good Dmen available around that range in the draft. Perhaps you can get Heinola around there as long term replacement for Muzzin.

Admittedly they're my only NL team, but they've been bottom feeders for so long. 
Now with the best farm system in baseball and a good (but not great 40-man roster), I'm hoping they trade for Realmuto, Kluber and sign Machado and PUNK the F out of the Dodgers in the NL West. 
Can you imagine an infield of Hosmer, Urias, Machado and Tatis... Outfield of Renfoe/Reyes in LF Margot/Cordero in CF and Myers in RF, with one of Meija or Hedges catching (one will have to go in a trade for Realmuto).

I think the Angels should just do an uber move and sign Machado and Trout simultaneously.  That would be cool. 

if you're machado, you really have to ask yourself who you'd like to play with - trout, ohtani, and adell (and instantly make them a serious contender) or a bunch of nobody's in chicago.

I believe he pitched 60 games for us, and of those, only 5 could really be considered bad. He was solid for STL.

I miss Ben Weber. He always had the look that, if it wasn't against the rules, he would hit every batter. 

Kesler's NMC isn't in effect that final year, it converts to a NTC so he won't need to be protected. But agreed, might buy out anyways if we need the cap space and he's still playing like garbage. 

I like.  Of course we will probably just be mediocre and continue to be a fringe playoff team till the last few weeks.  Kind of like the Angels, and the fans will say, hey, we were in it till the end, all is good.  Let the mediocrity continue.

Well, Ervin's Magic has been previously the even #'ed season. He lost last season. So, I am calling a 14-4 3.68 season coming.
