  1. Honestly, Richards’ career at this point is starting to remind me a lot of Rich Harden. Tons of potential, filthy stuff, some dominant stretches... but just destroyed by injuries.
  2. I hate that sort of stupidity SO MUCH. It would be very difficult for me not to beat the living sh*t out of someone just carelessly firing their pistol into the air in an urban/suburban setting.
  3. Any thoughts on Domingo Santana? Had a really good year in 2017, then the Brewers made him a 4th OF this year (seems like kinda got screwed on that one). He struggled not playing every day this year, and they just sent him down to AAA about a week ago I think. Could be a really good buy low guy if we’re willing to give him regular ABs.
  4. The book on Ohtani seems to be to pound him in with fastballs. Just took an up and in fastball on the inside corner the other way for a single. This is a very good sign guys.
  5. Let’s not forget about how well Simmons is playing right now too. Just kinda laying low, playing GG defense, and dropping a 2/5 with three runs scored tonight. He’s had an awesome start to the season.
  6. Listening to Mota break down Ohtani’s performance makes me want to puke. It’s like pooping on the Mona Lisa.
  7. Obviously way too early to even take this sort of speculation seriously, but if Ohtani reaches something like 150 career wins and 200 career homers, would he have a decent shot just because of the novelty of such a feat?
  8. I get ya, but I think the confidence boost of going off like that in his second career game as a DH is huge. Now he KNOWS he’s capable of succeeding as a major league hitter.
  9. My personal opinion after watching the game yesterday: Dude has elite stuff. Fastball, slider, curve and especially the splitter all looked top notch. His command seemed a bit shaky though, which may just be an early season thing. He got away with some pretty meaty pitches that just weren’t squared up well by the Oakland hitters. He also looks to be a bit slow to the plate. Might be an easy guy to run on (haven’t seen the numbers on his actual times to the plate out of the stretch yet). All in all though, his stuff is dirty. If he commands it well consistently, he’s gonna be tough to hit.
  10. http://www.kansascity.com/latest-news/article206611679.ece/BINARY/Read the full Schlitterbahn corporation indictment#storylink=readmore_inline Just saw this today. This is bad. Like really bad. It’s a long read, but these guys basically screwed up (purposely) every single step in the design/construction process of this ride, then pushed safety/injury incidents under the rug, forced staff to falsify reports, and as a finale engaged in some witness intimidation and serious legal malpractice. Bunch of shitbags.
  11. I got it about a month ago. Wiped me the f$&! out for about five days. Easily the sickest I’ve been in my adult life. Like getting up off the couch was a monumental task that often involved falling back asleep several times during the attempt. I probably slept about 16 hours a day during that stretch. Luckily the gf was around to help me take care of day to day things. Getting Ondansetron from the doctor on day three helped a lot too, as it finally allowed me to actually eat something and keep it down.
  12. Decided to share a couple photos of my buddy, Scout. Like I said, similar coloring to Sully’s dog. The fourth one down is from the first night I brought him home at six months old. Others are just random shots from the last year or so. (And don’t be worried by the pitt and bulldog in the one pic... Those three played together a lot at my old place and never were aggressive with each other.)
  13. I’ve got an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix, and I couldn’t be happier with him. He’s about two now (got him at six months). He’s got pretty similar coloring to Sully’s pup actually. Nonetheless, the dog is sweet as can be, responds well to training, picks up on words and patterns very quickly, and has a ton of energy to go with his desire to please. I’d say Sully made a great decision.
  14. Bought it when it was $89/year around Black Friday. I’ve used it a few times since. The good news, of course, is that it more than pays for itself if I use it even 1-2 times/month. The bad news is that you have to be within 100 yards of the theater and wait until a half hour before the movie start time to check in. So, if it’s a Friday night screening of something new and popular, there’s a good chance you’ll be SOL. But if you’re using it in pretty much any other situation it’s awesome.
  15. It’s down to $6.99/month right now. Also, I think some chains that are more food/beverage focused are happy to work with Movie Pass because the main goal of the theater is to get someone in the seat to order beer/cocktails/food.
  16. Saw a good deal today from Movie Pass. Basically $90/year and you get to see up to one movie per day in theaters. Checked around my area, and all the major theaters take it, including Alamo Draft House. Totally worth it if you think you’ll average at least one movie a month. https://www.moviepass.com/
  17. Subtle? Great balance, good fast twitch muscle memory, don’t complain that they’re cold all the time... It’s tough to do better than that.
  18. Never saw him live, but saw a couple of his specials and heard him on several podcasts. Really freaking funny dude. And he kinda caught an odd niche perspective-wise (kinda liberal-ish redneck stoner). Dude had a crazy ass life story and was really in constant pain from the time he was a teen onward (I think he went deep into the whole thing on one of Joe Rogan's podcasts... could be wrong). In the end though, he seemed to be a kind and legitimately funny dude. I'll miss him.
  19. I didn't read through all the posts here, so sorry if I'm going over some things others have already mentioned. I got my dog, an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix, at six months old (he's almost two now). It only took about a week to house train him (save for that one time about a month later that he shit all over my bed during a f-all thunderstorm). But there are two things I did that seemed to make the process easy. First, I had specific treats that he got only when he went to the bathroom outside. In my case, it was cut up hot dogs. I didn't use them for any other training. Just for going to the bathroom outside. He picked up on how that worked very quickly. And second, I established a routine. Dogs pick up on patterns pretty well. He eventually just learned when we were going to head out to let him go to the bathroom throughout the day. Now he usually does what he needs to do within about a minute of those trips outside.
  20. Always love reading these. The writing feels so effortless with a "cool specifically because it's not trying to be cool" vibe.
  21. Went out to watch the second half. That was freaking fun.
  22. I saw Dunkirk in 35mm the weekend it came out. Thought it was freaking amazing. Not a traditional war movie in any sense. But just non-stop action and super tense throughout the whole film. I think a lot of people don't like it because it doesn't follow the traditional war movie narrative/script. It's meant to just throw you into the horrific experience of the event (mind you I think it's a much more powerful theater movie than it would be at home) and let you figure the rest out on your own.
  23. Odd idea that I'm sure has flaws I'm unaware of or just haven't thought of, but... Why doesn't China just annex North Korea and start running the show there? Seems like a best-case scenario for everyone involved to me.
