  1. To be fair, it's still pretty upsetting.
  2. Maybe he thought Sondland was a woman?
  3. They do have an assistant GM position open.
  4. https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/20/uk/prince-andrew-steps-back-intl-gbr/index.html Dude got the royal benching.
  5. My opinion at the time from what I remember was that we had somehow given up the best player in the deal (Napoli) plus one more useful player (Rivera) for someone that couldn't be considered reliably productive but would cost significantly more than the two players we traded. We got hosed on both the talent and money side somehow. Of course, nobody anticipated just how horrible Wells would actually be here, but it would've been a bad trade even if he'd had a decent season (say an .800 OPS).
  6. I had to read that in the Mario voice.
  7. The Crawford downturn was hard to see coming. Dude was 28 as a free agent I think, and he hadn’t shown any signs of a downturn. I would’ve welcomed the signing at the time, and it would’ve been a disaster obviously. Not like Hamilton bad, but still.
  8. I imagine you won’t see too many shenanigans in like May, but September/October? I could definitely see a lot of managers getting a bit creative in big situations. And I understand the intent of the rule is to speed up the game, which is fine in its overall purpose. I just wish they went about it in a way that doesn’t fundamentally change the strategy of the game. Maybe limit the time between when a pitcher is taken out and when the next pitcher has to make their first pitch?
  9. I think we're gonna see a lot of guys get hurt and miraculously recover in one day this season.
  10. That was one of those trades that was clearly terrible even at the time it was made. Like most trades you can talk yourself into on some level, even the bad ones.... Then you realize how bad they were later on. But that trade was obviously a giant steaming turd from the get go.
  11. He can’t reserve a table for meetings at the Corona Del Taco yet. Still too small time. Had to accept a table every other Tuesday from 8-10AM at the Del Taco on 14th St in Riverside.
  12. Wells' sales pitch to potential clients: "You know what my OPS was in 2011? 660. You know what my salary was? $26 million. Let me show you how to get that kind of deal."
  13. I mean if there was ever a guy that got the maximum amount of money for minimal output, it's Wells.
  14. Abreu = objectively better than Baines by quite a bit.
  15. Forgot to add Abreu to the maybe section. Dude kinda quietly put together some impressive career numbers. 288HR and 400SB is pretty good.
  16. SICK lineup in that 4th pic.
  17. Group One - The Definitely Yes (IMO) Jeter Bonds Clemens Walker Ramirez Sosa Helton Group Two - The Maybe (IMO) Jones Konerko Schilling
  18. I feel like Moustakas is a known commodity at least at this point. Sign him to a 1-2 year deal and at least you know what you're getting (barring injury). Of the 3 guys you mentioned, I think Fletcher is the most likely to repeat his performance from last year. I'm hoping LaStella's power surge from 2019 shows back up in 2020, but I wouldn't call that a sure thing by any means. Rengifo is still developing so it's still kinda hard to say what value he will provide in 2020.
  19. That's a step in the right direction for sure. Arguably the most despised aspect of the healthcare system for me is the random ass, completely unexpected bills that pop up for what seem like cheap/minor things (and are cheap/minor in other places). More transparency in knowing the cost of those things upfront would certainly help, though the other side of me thinks that hospitals/insurers will find wonderful new ways to get around this because corps gonna corp.
  20. I never watched past the first season of 24, and The Wire is the best thing ever put on TV, so it's hard to judge. I think it's objectively better than Homeland by quite a bit though, and the writing for the most part is pretty good, especially the dialogue. There was one thing that bothered me deeply this season writing-wise though. I won't go into specifics, but a major part of the plot deals with a specific bit of "crazy new technology" that has really been around for several decades and I worked with regularly in college. So that just felt kinda silly to me, but I imagine it wouldn't be an issue for most.
  21. I finished Jack Ryan S2 last night. While I still thoroughly enjoy the show, I agree with a lot of people here that the back half of this season felt a little rushed and they made some odd choices with story direction. Still entertaining as hell in my opinion, but I think that's mainly because it fills a space genre-wise that isn't really being served much these days.
  22. Same thoughts here. It's not a bad film like I've heard a fair number of Tarantino fans say it is. It's just that by Tarantino standards it's a solid C.
  23. Being the dude that gets to write their statements to the press must be a pretty cool gig.
