  1. The clutch is fine too. I don't drive it hard or aggressively downshift. I just let it slowly decelerate and nicely downshift into each gear around 2k rpm (for the gear I'm going into). Works just fine. Then again Toyotas are just put together pretty well.
  2. I have nearly 70,000 on my car, which I bought brand new. Original brakes are still good. It's a manual though, and I generally don't even use the brakes unless I'm under about 20mph.
  3. I thought hentai porn discussion was reserved for the after dark forum.
  4. I wouldn't worry too much about the car fax thing. Dealerships generally report service records, but lots of other places don't. Car fax is only good for things like title changes (i.e. salvage titles, transfers) and dealership records. That said, run away. I'm about 98% sure the guy is lying about why he's selling the car.
  5. I'm gonna go ahead and assume it's happened before, just not since we've been keeping records of that stuff.
  6. Yeah, San Bernardino in general is a shit hole these days. I lived right where Loma Linda and Redlands meet (just about two miles east of SB) about four years ago, and you could just feel the sketchiness overwhelm you whenever crossing into SB. And it was widespread enough that I often thought to myself "there's no way to fix this."
  7. We're just entering our "nice" time of year here. Mid-September through early November is beautiful; then late November through March is an ice, snow, and wind-fueled shit show; April is usually awesome; and May-August is like having a demon sit on your face.
  8. Took care of that already man. I'm not an amateur here. First step in dealing with all problems = whiskey and a solid BM. This is some sort of muscle thing I think... Or maybe a pinched nerve? I don't know, I've never had back issues of any kind before.
  9. Somehow between leaving work at 4PM today and getting home from a dinner date with my gf at about 9PM tonight, I developed some nasty pain in the mid-right side of my back. Like I felt some slight discomfort around 7 that turned into something pretty nasty by about 9. I feel fine standing up straight or laying on my back, but bending over is a bit painful, and any sort of lateral movement feels horrible, whether rotating or leaning. Didn't do anything terribly stressful physically today, so it's hard to identify a root cause. The only thing I can think of is that I had a mild oblique strain on my left side about a month ago that I can still feel some discomfort from on and off. Thoughts?
  10. I know it's something not everyone can do (either because of the nature of the job or their own personality), but it's something that should be strived for. I let it be known that when I'm in the office, I'm available. Email me on an off day, or at 9PM, and I'll get back to you when I'm in the office next. There needs to be a clear, hard line. If that's not set, people can exploit it and dramatically hurt your overall quality of life.
  11. It's funny thinking of him that way in terms of his viability as a ball player. I mean, you're correct; but I met him on a plane in March of this year, and surrounded by a large group of "normal" people he looked like the most ridiculously physically capable person within 2,000 miles.
  12. Wow Tank. I know some guys like Gold Bond, but this? This is a step too far.
  13. Just once every couple years. And my coworkers seem to be well-behaved. It's my personal time that seems to screw everything up.
  14. That's freaking awesome. Does one just exchange that pic for free tail at any establishment?
  15. I took a Gerontology class in college, and we talked about exactly that a bit. The depression rate immediately post-retirement, among men especially, is scary high.
  16. That's where I feel a balance should be struck. It's ok to enjoy your job, but people need to find a way to go and enjoy life outside of that. Which is tough if you live the typical American existence of 10 days PTO/year (and worse for a lot of contractors, which is an ethical shit show, IMO). I have a buddy that takes a month off every year to do a solo trip through an area of the world he's never been to. Instead of negotiating salary on his current job, he just talked them in to 20 days of paid vacation per year with the understanding that he'd be unreachable for one month out of the year. Loved that.
  17. Flew to San Antonio and back on a twin prop six passenger plane last week. First time I've ever flown on something that small, and the first time I've been on a prop plane in about 15 years. It was a cool experience.
  18. I love my work. Different sets of challenges every day (keeps things from becoming boring), it's all for a good cause, and I consider the people I have and do work with to be good friends of mine. Can't ask for much more.
  19. That's one of the most rewatchable sketches ever made. Gets me every time.
  20. Sounds like a refreshing choice of conflict type.
  21. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/islamic-state-bans-burka-northern-iraq-after-veiled-woman-kills-2-jihadists-1579804?utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=rss&utm_content=/rss/yahoous/news&yptr=yahoo Hearing stories like this one, and the stuff I've heard about the Mosul Batallions, makes me think IS just won't have enough support to control much of anything soon.
