I used to not be into it but some of those death metal bands can really rock it.  It is a genre that I really appreciate now.  Some of it is too extreme for me but all music can be like that.

I was never a fan of Mr. Hatcher, but I have to agree with your assessment Bruce. Unfortunately Brandon just didn't have major league talent. He was unable to stick with the Pirates or Orioles, and his stats at AAA were very poor. He was a better fielder than a hitter, and I know he got ahold of a couple of pitches and hit them a mile, he was said to have very strong wrists. He just couldn't hit breaking balls, and simply is overmatched by major league pitching

The perfect summary for this team's 2013 is 2 steps forward and 2 steps backwards.
It's next to impossible to contend when including Vargas you only have 3 capable starting pitchers, one of your catchers is barely MLB quality behind the plate (6 errors in what, 60 games?), your two big sluggers are no longer so, and the defense in general is mediocre.
Weaver and Wilson compare to the majority of 1-2's in a rotation. But 4-5 is near the bottom.
That won't get it done, and is likely part of the reason we drafted so many college pitchers in 2013.

I know its only a hypothetical at this point, but failing to extend Trout long-term and losing him to free agency might actually lead me to defect from Angels fandom. If you look at each franchise, there are players who defined the organization - all-time greats. This is the first Angel to truly fit that description. There have been a few close calls, namely Dean Chance, Jim Fregosi, Nolan Ryan, and Tim Salmon, but Mike Trout is the first that could both be 1) An all-time great and 2) a life-long Angel. This should be Dipoto's #1 priority.

I think they need to leave Blanton in the rotation. He has an outside chance at 20. Anytime a pitcher has that chance for 20, you should give it to them.

Williams always seems to have a plan out there. Leave him in the rotation the rest of the year. He's a gift. Sign him for next year instead of one of these expensive washouts.

With a 3 run lead, the closer shouldn't nibble. I always loved watching Percival pitch in that situation. Basically he threw his hardest fastball for a strike and challenged hitters. He didn't care if he gave up a home run, because he would still be winning.
