i'm not sure why they DFA'd mackinnon. not that he was any kind of long term solution or anything, but i'm sure he had some usefulness here or there.

Are you a relative of Nevin? Based on a tiny sample size of pretty much complete failure, I can't see why you are so vehemently defending him.

I don't know, Marsh has shown very little and they got a top 100 prospect in return; O'Hoppe basically has the same prospect pedigree that Marsh did at his peak and hasn't yet failed at the MLB level yet. I'm glad they recognized it and cut bait early rather than end up in the Adell/Canning scenario where they waited too long and now they won't get anything of value for them. 

I hope they keep him in the minors at least through next September so he doesn't get rushed and turn into a 33%+ K guy like Marsh. No real reason to promote him early given where the team is

Decent defense but he's one of the worst hitters I've seen outside of Velazquez, and our coaching and development is bottom tier and has little chance of fixing him. Not really a huge loss IMO

Agreed. But my guess is the Angels will once again pretend that they're contending ahead of 2023 and do something stupid like sign him. Heck, he could pitch well and they'd still be a 90 loss team like this year

This team will have an uphill battle to contend next season as well, so getting rid of Iglesias salary is fine. Having that kind of money invested in the bullpen(a bad one at that) on a sub .500 team just compounds the already long list of problems this franchise currently is dealing with
