This is a good move for both teams.
 
For the Braves, they have one of the best if not the best pitching staff in baseball.    This makes them even better.
 
For the Angels, they moved someone who was gone after the season anyway for a potential quality reliever with many years of control.  
 
Watch out for Rasmus's Dad..  He's a former high school coach and thinks he knows better than MLB coaches and managers and with his brother Colby, had way too much influence on his son.  And a very big mouth.

Let's just ignore the economic facts people. Yes, Trout will be going to the Yankees or whoever back east because hey, this is fantasy land!  In all of your minds four years is right around the corner.  Nobody get hurt in four years.  The Angels will continue to suck in four years and Trout is sitting picture perfect with no risks on his millions when he can leave the Angels in four plus years.
 
 
Let's get back to reality.  A lot can happen in four years.  In high probability trout will be receiving more money than he knows what to do with.  However, that is on the basis that he stays healthy, which is not a guarantee.  There is always a possibility he could get hurt.  Therefore, there is great incentive to guarantee your life long wealth now, instead of waiting for your life long wealth in four years.
 
So once again, Trout is going nowhere if the Angels do not F*** it up.  Why?  All they have to do is offer a contract he can't refuse.  I say 10 years 170 million is enough to do the job.  However, it has to be next year.  Every year the Angels wait to extend Trout you will have to add at least another 22 million to the package to make it one he can't refuse.  
 
This fall is the year to do it.  My only concern is that the Angels desire to get under the cap might convince them not to extend Trout.  However, as I have been saying the longer it takes the Angels to offer the extension to Trout, the less incentive he has to re sign.

Why worry about this right now. If the Angels show improvement starting next year than I think Trout will be here long term.

I don't mind Oakland winning because I hate Texas so much. I hope that Texas loses out on the WC as well.

I still wouldn't want him. What human being leaves their spouse because they are diagnosed with cancer. Lackey is horseshit!!

Then he needs to stay out of baseball operations altogether and leave it up to the FO.

Scioscia and Dipoto AREN'T on the same page and that is the cancer eating away at this team. Players know these things. I'm sure you have players loyal to one or the other, and this is the result. Arte kind of swooped in late last year and said both men were safe, but truth be told he might have been better served getting one or the other out of there. I'm guessing Dipoto because of Scioscia's contract, and I'm good with that. Dipoto strikes me as the kind of GM that Steinbrenner would have fired long ago.

I don't mind spending on FA but damnit this teams needs to find the right ones.

Please no more criticism of Pujols. The real problem is stinking Hamilton. He has ruined this team with his bad attitude.

I know that people are extremely negative right now but this is the time when our team needs our support the most.  I don't think the Owner, GM, Manager, Coaches and Players are happy about this either. As fans it is easy to get frustrated or down on a team when it struggles.  I honestly don't think changing managers at this time will change the outcome of this season.  What will change it is getting some of these players healthy and getting Hamilton out of his funk.

Plain and simple I want Scioscia and the rest of the coaching staff fired. I don't care what Arte said, the guy needs to grow a pair and do the right thing.

I am really really angry right now. I absolutely hate this team.

He's a big part of why we stink this season.  Guy just doesn't give a crap.
