Hoops McCann got a reaction from Angel Oracle in .153
I've finally fully bought into the concept that Albert is in his steep decline.  For the first few years when he came over from the Cards, I thought he'd still be a .850-.950 OPS player.  Now, looking at it with an unbiased opinion, he's in a steep decline.

He will hit better than .153, but I do not think he will hit over .250 this season and his OPS will be no higher than .750.    That contract is god awful now...ouch.

I also don't understand the Cardinal hate before this. I look at a team that drafts well, develops well, makes good trades and doesn't make horrible long term decisions. Players that have played there love the organization and the fan base. Now it's possible people hate them because they became media darlings, if so that's just plain dumb. If that is the case then learn to form your own opinion and give less shits about what ESPN says.

How about the guy who blew a 4 run lead in one inning?

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but Randal Grichuck has been very good since coming back from his back strain.

He's OPS is now around .925.  This kid has a lot of upside.   This is the player, not Bourjous, that the Angels should regret giving up.  He'd look very good in the Angels OF this season.

Depends on how many times they have to meet the Cardinals in the post-season:)

You left out the fact that the starting pitching is fair to poor and the bullpen is also fair, at best.

I'm no fan of Dipoto, in fact, I think he has done a terrible job in assembling the roster.  Arte likely forced his hand in the past, but this year, he didnt do much to upgrade the team and the poor pitching I put squarely on his shoulders.

I want to be diplomatic about this because I really like Peter Bourjos and enjoy watching him.  He had the starting CF job to lose last year and he did - or you could say Jon Jay won it back - or both.  But last year Peter could not produce at the plate.  He has very recently received more playing time and the broadcasters talk as if he's working on making changes to his approach etc.

The fact is that David Freese was a big part of LAA success in 2014 and will likely be impactful this year too.  Peter was of minimal impact for STL last year and will likely be a bit more impactful this year but I suspect it's because he's now recognizing his role and probably embracing it ... just my opinion.

I just posted in my Scorecards and Summaries thread the pics and links - so if anyone is feeling like LAA "lost" the Freese-Bourjos trade - I recommend you take a look.

Again - not meaing to disparage Peter and hope he stays a Cardinal and/or has a solid career but contributions-wise ... Freese-Bourjos aren't even close.

I watch a lot of Cardinal games, and I have just come to the conclusion that Peter just isn't a good baseball player. He alright with the glove and has great speed (that doesn't translate to steals, btw), but is just clueless at the plate. He'll be the 5th OF/ late inning defensive sub once again when Grichuk gets back. Whatever problem the Angels may be having right now, having Bourjos back wouldn't solve any of them.

Peter Bourjos, in a 9-pitch at bat, hit a game tying single in the bottom of the 12th inning in St. Louis. Kolten Wong then hit a walk-off HR in the 14th to beat Pittsburgh. The Cards swept the Pirates this weekend, and are 18-6 on the season.

Did anyone get the license plate of the bus that Arte threw Hamilton under?

Hamilton was a massive let down..a mistake and a mistake that is squarely on the shoulders of the owner.  Moreno, unhappy at the production from Hamilton as well as the relapse, saw an opportunity to ditch Hamilton and that's what he did.

The Angels are essentially eating the contract to get rid of him.  That tells me they were disappointed with his production more than his relapse, but used the relapse as an excuse to get out from under the contract.

    Everything else is just obfuscation.

I mean hes kinda right.  Arte and everyone knew about his drug history.  They should have put a clause in there saying his contract can be terminated if he does drugs again, and if they couldnt get that clause, dont sign him.  If anyone should take some accountability here, its the Angels.

This is going to be a very big blow to the team.  Season started out so well for the team and Waino.  If it is a ruptured achilles, then he's out for the season, at the very least.  There are a few guys in the minors (Gonzalez and Cooney) who can step in, but Waino is almost irreplacable.

NL is a far superior version of baseball than AL ball.  Disagree all you want, but NL has lots more strategy than AL ball and I find it vastly more exciting.

it was a triple, not a double and it was a thing of beauty.  But, let's be honest here...the Freese walk-off was pretty special too.

Cron looked overmatched there.  That was an awful AB..as if he had no awareness of what he wanted to do.

Angels now 2-26 with men on.  That right there is the most damning stat of the series.

Hoops McCann reacted to YouthofToday in Cardinals call up Randal Grichuk
Cardinals see Grichuk as a 4th OF. That is why they called him up and not Taveras or Piscotty -- who they see as everyday players.
Cards see Grichuk as an upgrade over Robinson as a reserve OF and aren't concerned with getting him everyday PAs or service time issues.
