Did I miss something? Did the bullpen blow it again? Did Trout hurt his calf? No? Oh, that's right! That was so the past! This 2022 team is something different. Angels baseball is once again...ENTERTAINING! Keep it up boys?

I know his defense is terrible in the majors, but didn't anyone see this as a problem in the minors? It's not like the game is different for outfielders in AA or AAA. We should know very well whether his defense was up to par already.

I know his defense is terrible in the majors, but didn't anyone see this as a problem in the minors? It's not like the game is different for outfielders in AA or AAA. We should know very well whether his defense was up to par already.

Which is the only reason such a trade would work. Bogaerts is a consistent star, and still just 29. He's 14th in fWAR since 2015.
He's a 4-5 WAR player in his prime, making $20 million a year, owed 4/$60M with a vesting option after this year. On the open market, he could make 6/$180M, plus or minus.
The only way he doesn't opt out is if he gets hurt or has a bad year.
