ok whoever doesn't think shoei knew about this us full of it.. he saw 140 million dollars in transaction going in and out of his account..come on!!!16 million in lose

$140m didn’t leave his account, $140m is what he won and $180m was what he lost in total. You can win $20m and lose $20m in the same week and $0 will leave your account.

I of course do not bet like this so I am not speaking from experience

Welcome to 2024. This happens with everything, not just baseball stories. Most people are stupid, we all agree on that but we disagree on who exactly is stupid.

No Japanese speaking accountants available in Southern California. You know how dense that sounds?

Why does his tax advisor/accountant need to be in the US at all? Ohtani had bank accounts in Japan playing for the Ham Fighters, it's not like he had to change firms.

Of course but even if one is going to claim he did, it wouldn't be hard to find one he can communicate with. It's stranger that he wouldn't do so.

    • Ohtani also employed a professional bookkeeper, financial manager, and tax preparer and accountant, who, along with his agent, managed all of his domestic endorsement deals, which were handled in separate accounts. None of them spoke Japanese or hired anyone who spoke Japanese.

  3. Yes we all know he was just drafted, only 22, and only 10 games in.  He had the nice little story of the on base streak going, but that really did some heavy lifting to hide his overall performance.

Currently 2 for 31, good for a slash of .065/.261/.161 for an OPS that is .003 higher than Anthony Rendon's.  He's getting on base considering via the walks, but what should we be expecting from him? Will sending him down ruin his confidence too much, potentially hurting his long term development and future?
