Bronson reacted to DCAngelsFan in Who do you want up there?
WIthout getting too carried away with questions like "Game 7?" "Home or Away?" "Pitcher?" "Who's hot/slumping?" for a hypothetical scenario...
In a playoff game, my heart says Trout would deserve to be there.
But - and I know this is heresy - my head says he might be the third choice - after Rendon and Fletcher.
Rendon has good plate judgement, pitch recognition, and he has just incredible bat speed - he can put the barrel on the ball and rarely gets beat.
And Fletcher makes such excellent contact - it's absurd - maybe a little less disciplined, but that makes him less likely to get called out on a fringey strike 3 like Trout. and with his contact skills, he can spoil a good pitch at least as well - probably better - than the other two - I could actually see him being #1 on the list.
So, what the hell:
Fletcher
Rendon
Trout
But no bad answer among the three, tbh.

Lol. He’s the last person I’d want up in a big spot. Would literally take anyone else.

I’m surprised, there’s not as many Rendon’s as I thought there was gonna be.
I think this also just proves our lineup is pretty fucking nasty.

Just a fun little scenario since baseball news is pretty dead and spring training is right around the corner.
Playoff game. Game on the line and we need to get a hit. Down by 1 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs. Bases loaded. Who do you want up to try to drive in the game winning hit? Or get on base?
I know the easy answer would be Trout, but I think I would want Rendon up there in that situation. I’d have more confidence he’d get the big hit and he’s been in big game situations before. And the dude doesn’t seem to ever get nervous or feel under pressure.
What about you guys? Who do you want up with the game on the line and why?

Bronson got a reaction from stormngt in The Doug Eddings Game
The Angels were completely drained from the previous series as they basically got no rest so yeah something like that can completely demoralize a team that’s already running on fumes.
Angels win that game if that call doesn’t get blown. I firmly believe that. They would have went home 2-0 and feeling much better. Instead they go home tied 1-1 thinking they just cheated out of a game. That kind of shit can demoralize a clubhouse.

Still faster than Pujols running to 1B

This statement couldn’t be any further from the truth.

This team is good. Enough of the narrative that we’re shit. We went 17-12 in September last year. We just got off to a slow start. Who knows what we would have done in a full season. We got superstars, X factors, and potential superstars waiting in the wings.
We fixed the biggest problem that plagued us last season and that’s improving the bullpen. How many games did we blow last year? I don’t know the number but it was a shit ton. There has been this narrative that all the Angels need to do is sign 8 starting pitchers and then we reach the postseason. That’s anything but the truth. We improved every aspect of our team this offseason. We are as deep as we’ve ever been in recent memory.
So let’s pump the breaks on this whole Trout wants to leave narrative. Trouts not stupid. He knows the potential this team has. Let’s just wait and see what happens this upcoming year because the West is wide open and we have a solid ass team. Maybe the best team in the AL West....
