Bwahahahaha!  Too funny; cuz that's exactly what I was thinking!

Just got back late last night... I had a great time with the team!  And, I think I represented pretty well.  I played both games of their double-header last Sat. (They have two teams: their A-team, and a rookie B-team.  The A leaguers must swing wood bats).  In the A game, I started as DH, but ended the game in LF.  I came-up for my first AB in the 3rd inning with the bases loaded, and plated the first run of the game with a sac-fly.  I ended the game with a single, run, rbi, and a walk (no K's!).  We won 3-1, and clinched a playoff spot for the team!  The A-league is similar to my Sunday league back here, but the pitching was not as fast.  I played-down to the level of the B-league in the second game...  I played 2B, but never got a chance all game (the other team was almost completely rookies; brand-new to the game).  We won a mercy-rule game against them.

My line for the day...   .666 2-for-3 with 2 rbi, 3 runs, 2 bb, and one broken bat...  I will be mailing them a couple bats (and other items), since it is so expensive for them there.

You can follow them at Belfastbaseball.co.uk and see some pics from their twitter feed.  By the way, I also won a Gold in my 50-meter freestyle event (Mens 45-50 age group).

Just don't go all Josh Hamilton on us and embarrass us. You represent this board, the Angels organization and your entire country. Make us proud. Don't want to hear about how some 16 year old Irish kid struck you out four times.

I'm flying-out to Belfast (Northern Ireland) early in the morning to swim in the World Police/Fire Olympics.  They swim meters instead of yards, and I'm not in my best meters-swimming shape (It'll be only my second time ever competing in a meters race, but I'm only swimming the 50m free individually and maybe with a pieced-together relay, so I expect to survive).

I packed a few spare baseballs and t-shirts (Angels and Dirtbags), hoping to come-across some kids playing ball during my trip.  Then, I decided to google "Irish baseball" and stumbled onto the site of the "Belfast Northstars."  They've only been playing baseball on the island since the mid-90's, and this team is comprised of all levels of talent (kind of like the Sunday-league team I'm playing on now).

I saw that they are playing a double-header this coming Sat., which happens to be a day-off for me.  I emailed the site, saying that I was going to need my baseball fix (while missing my own teams' practice and Sunday game), and that I hoped to come-out and check them out.

I emailed (Neil, the Teams' GM) back and forth a couple of times, explaining my baseball experience, etc.  I was thrilled to get a fourth email from Jon (the Head Coach), saying "Bring your cleats; I added you to our roster for the games Saturday."  I was floored by this response but, of course, I have now packed an additional suitcase with my full Sunday Angels uniform and two gloves!  (extra-bag fees, be damned!)

I'm more excited about this opportunity, than my swimming or even possibly playing some Irish links golf!

LBHalos17 reacted to HaloMilliVanilli in Another song thread - songs that always give you chills
Incidentally, I was watching a clip from a Springsteen concert from earlier this year or late last year.  It was around the time of the death of Levon Helm, drummer/singer from The Band, and Springsteen began to sing The Band's song "The Weight".  Totally got chills as one can clearly hear 10-15,000 (that's a rough estimate) people begin to sing an entire song (not just the chorus) of a band they didn't come to see as a tribute to Levon Helm.  It was pretty cool.  I can't think of any song that gives me chills each time I hear it, but there have been plenty of songs that have given me chills but it's more about the moment that I'm hearing the song combined with the song.

No you said if someone was following your kid they would deserve to get beat, which clearly implies implies that would be an acceptable response to you. And, I said IF you're kid responded that way he would be a thug. Personal attack? Good grief lol. Get a grip.

Just ignore the facts though, right? Most citizens don't jump others and beat their skull in. If you are a citizen and partake in this sort of event, death is always a possibility. Usually, the attacked ends up dead but this time it was the other way around.

There are consequences to taking a life for Zimmerman, they just arent criminal ones. Saying his life was in danger isnt the only reason why he was not guilty, the actual evidence backs up his entire story.

This guy had every reason to hang up his cleats 5 years ago. The fact that he is still sticking around shows his love for the game. It is probably a good reminder for the young guys that it will come to an end one day and enjoy it while you can.

Glad to see players responding to the suspension. In the past, they just avoided anything having to do with PED's.

Kemp: "I don't like being lied to"

Schumacher : "In my opinion, he should be suspended, lifetime ban. One strike, you’re out. It’s enough. It’s ridiculous. You’re still doing this? This guy is one of the main guys that are the face of the franchise and the face of baseball. For him to do this and maybe get caught twice already is ridiculous. A guy loses his job because of it. Hopefully, he gets that back. He lied. He lied to a lot of people. I was convinced, after that MVP, that he didn’t do it. I think he should hand over that MVP to Matt Kemp. Suspend them all. It needs to get out of baseball, so how are you going to do it? I know we have an agreement; we all agreed upon the agreement -- 50, 100. I thought that was enough at the beginning of it. But apparently not. Watching him talk right now makes me sick.”

I'm positive it wasn't 100 games because he agreed to not appeal and that's why it was 65 games. Such horse shit. They should have done this over the break, joke that they let guys play through the weekend when they knew they were going to start dropping the hammer. Make it matter or don't do it.

Winning 2 out 3 from the A's is fine when you're only trailing them by 2 or 3 games. Not 10 or 11. That's the price they're paying for screwing around in April and May.

    Coincidence? Just wondering...................
Alabama beat Arkansas and Arkansas fired their coach.
Alabama beat Tennessee and Tennessee fired their coach.
Alabama beat Auburn and Auburn fired their coach.
Then Alabama beat Notre Dame, and the Pope resigned.......
Damn, I wish the White House had a team!
